1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
The $4 Kroger beer strikes again. Something about this beer is a little... off. Several somethings, in fact. Taste is bland and metallic, and hops are quite poor. A bit watery, too. They call this stuff an ale? Avoid.
12 ounce bottle courtesy of maniac. Thanks for the beer and the dire warnings regarding said beer. Pours a slightly hazy reddish copper color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is nutty with big caramel notes. Very malty taste with lots of nutty grainy notes and faint leafy hop and tea like notes. Subtle raisin as well. Medium bodied. Could stand to have a bit more complexity but not all that bad. jimmack34 (640) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2009
12 oz bottle. Pours nice amber color. Head was beige and fizzy. Smell was very malty. Taste was more malt than hops. I like my red ale to be more hoppy, but this isnt the worst. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007

Clear amber, thin beige head, sweet carmel malt aroma with soft floral hops, touch of tartness in the aroma and flavor, boreing
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 4/10; Flavor: 2/10; Palate: 2/10; Overall: 5/20
The score was calculated based upon the notes and an old scoring system.
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent softly carbonated brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was brown malt and grassy. The crisp and clean mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of Irish red malt. A decent one, thin but not one that I would consider buying again. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - NOV 14, 2006
Not a bad beer at all, It has a satifying some-what woody taste, an ok amount of head, not a lot of lacing, Decent price for a good solid "red" ale, not really worth trying at all...

Bottle. Very small ivory head that mostly diminished, poor lacing, visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange-red hue. Nose was malty, toffee and some caramel. Flavor was malty, caramel and a lot of toffee. Tingly mouthfeel and light body. Nothing to write home about with this one. It was drinkable, but nothing really to knock your socks off. Pours orange-red with a white head. Not much in the way of an aroma. Same goes for flavor -- very thin and one-dimensional, not much going on here. Disappointing. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 28, 2006
Sweet aroma, brownish copper color, almost no white head. Sweet flavor, very simple, but nothing noticeable. Slightly astringent after taste. Underwhelming. Fish (440) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 16, 2006
OK so the only reason I bought this was because I thought it said Dawson’s Creek (omg my favorite tv show ever!)
Psyche! Anyway, nothing really worth messing with here. But nothing awful. Needs some hops, less carbonation. The malt character tasted more typical of a lager (eg sam adams). changxao (104) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 13, 2006
Bottle. Pours a red-orange-amber with a slight head. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet with some hops. There are no off aromas. Mouthfeel is medium with a malty and sweet, and slightly hoppy flavor. Does not have any grainy flavors or smells. Has a nice finish. I’m quite suprised by this beer, it seems pretty nice, but the previous ratings don’t reflect these qualities. I really like this beer despite the previous judgements. I’ll buy this again.
