Bottle thanks to Keir! Pour is near black with small black head. Aroma is roasted malt and loads of fresh pine hope. Flavor also fresh and bright with hints of pine and light citrus. Very fresh and bright. Nice. j12601 (13456) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 4, 2012
Bottle. Pours a deep dark black with a large dense creamy tan head. Roast, sweet cocoa and malt, smoke, and sweet lime and citrus. Just on the thin side of medium bodied, roast comes through right away, big and bold. Nice earthy pungent hop notes follow, mellowing into some toffee and cocoa powder. Long earthy roast, dark and char filled, long bakers cocoa and bitter grapefruit pith on the finish. Very nice. Rustyham (1836) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUL 1, 2012
As far as black iPas go, this is very citrusy with most of the roastiness kept subdued. As dark as other black ipas, aroma has navel orange and smoke frylock (1144) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUN 25, 2012
Bomber from Winooski Beverage Warehouse: Nearly black, thin tan head. Citrus filled hop aroma with some resinous pine notes. Dry, moderate bitterness. Some faint mineral-earth like flavors lead into a big grapefruit hoppiness. Good rendition of the style.
