A - Pours a dark black with a hint of brown and a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of rich roasted and burnt caramel malts with some coffee, citrus hops, and some light pine hops.
T - Starts off with some deep roasted caramel malts with some roasted coffee and some citrus hops and bitterness with some grapefruit. Through the middle, some burnt malts come through with some more bitter-coffee flavor and some pine hop and more bitterness. The finish is a mix of pine and citrus hop with some earthy flavors, roasted and burnt malts and coffee, and some chocolate and bitterness.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, roasty, and chocolately finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really nice Black IPA with a good combination of hops, coffee flavor, and deep roasted malts and chocolate. Very nicely balanced. Marheb (5902) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 15, 2012
Un croisement bien opportun entre un café latte et une ipa de la côte ouest avec une présence en bouche pas loin d’être extraordinaire. wavers1 (916) - Notown, California, USA - APR 11, 2012
bottle courtesy of reynolds314, thanks! this is exactly why i dont like black ipa’s. big time clash all over for me. in the aroma, the taste, the mouthfeel and finish, all of it. it is citrusy more than piney. not the worst ive had, but ive only had a few black ipas i like and this isnt really one unfortunately. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2012
Pours black with a medium mocha head. Aroma is roasty with a touch of coffee...hoppiness creeps in...hint of citrus. Flavor is roasty up front with a touch of peat...good spicy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with a hoppt burnt/roasty finish. Tasty! Reynolds314 (3470) - Connecticut, USA - APR 2, 2012
I was very impressed with this. Basically a super hoppy porter. Aroma is ashy, coffee, citrus, grass, soapy. Taste is very rich and roasty with a huge hop profile dominated by citrus and resin. Flavor explosion.

I’m a huge fan ok big roasty super hopped beers. Might be my favorite type of beer. This is another perfect example of it. Amazing job! blipp (9502) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Draft. Pours near black with a tan head. Fruity citric hoppy aroma, with roasted malts and coffee. The flavor has great balance, with fruity citric hops, floral notes, light piney notes, coffee, and light roasted malts. Awesome. Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2012
Draught at Blind Tiger, NYC - at Vermont Night. Black - brown head. Nice burned malts. Nice hoppy. Lovely Bitterness. Fruity. Kalk. High malty. Lovely black IPA. JoeMcPhee (9456) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 30, 2012
Deep black pour with a tight tab head. The aroma is great. Loads of fresh earthy/citrusy hops along with some heavy cocoa and roasted malt notes. Assertive bitterness and a long lingering floral/citrus hop flavour. The roasted note really makes an appearance in this one. I dig it - although I think the roast could be dialed back.

Draft at blind tiger with Scarlett and Jeremy. Pours a black body with thick off white lacing. Aroma is super fresh pine hop and light smoke. Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated with notes of pine, light citrus, smoke, and light grapefruit.
