Multifarious coniferous hops grow through roasting coffee beans and molasses, leading to a potent grassy bitterness in this intense but somehow balanced and cuddly Black IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A persistent veil of foam surfs the darkness.
-This is quite redolent of their Chinooker’d IPA intensity-wise, and is in a similar flavor profile family to that of Smuttynose’s Imperial Stout, or The Alchemist’s El Jefe.
-The body is huggable and the carbonation soft and natural.
-The hop finish is also peppery.

I’m a huge fan ok big roasty super hopped beers. Might be my favorite type of beer. This is another perfect example of it. Amazing job! Reynolds314 (3462) - Connecticut, USA - APR 2, 2012
I was very impressed with this. Basically a super hoppy porter. Aroma is ashy, coffee, citrus, grass, soapy. Taste is very rich and roasty with a huge hop profile dominated by citrus and resin. Flavor explosion.

A - Pours a dark black with a hint of brown and a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of rich roasted and burnt caramel malts with some coffee, citrus hops, and some light pine hops.
T - Starts off with some deep roasted caramel malts with some roasted coffee and some citrus hops and bitterness with some grapefruit. Through the middle, some burnt malts come through with some more bitter-coffee flavor and some pine hop and more bitterness. The finish is a mix of pine and citrus hop with some earthy flavors, roasted and burnt malts and coffee, and some chocolate and bitterness.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, roasty, and chocolately finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really nice Black IPA with a good combination of hops, coffee flavor, and deep roasted malts and chocolate. Very nicely balanced. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 26, 2012

Draft at blind tiger with Scarlett and Jeremy. Pours a black body with thick off white lacing. Aroma is super fresh pine hop and light smoke. Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated with notes of pine, light citrus, smoke, and light grapefruit. blipp (9374) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Draft. Pours near black with a tan head. Fruity citric hoppy aroma, with roasted malts and coffee. The flavor has great balance, with fruity citric hops, floral notes, light piney notes, coffee, and light roasted malts. Awesome.
