bottle. nice clean bitter grapefruit and pineapple hops and some bright tropical fruit backed by a pleasant clean roast, dark chocolate, graham cracker, and dry nuttiness. well made. nice balance. could go for a lighter version of this. nicely done. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bottle… Midnight black ale with a creamy, beige head. Good retention. The burnt, dank aroma furnishes bong water with lesser notes of vanilla and cocoa. Full-bodied with a whole-milk mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The flavor is burnt, bitter, mildly acidic and acrid. Finishes tangy, carbonic and bitter. Bottle courtesy of ctipping! Black pour, bubbly tan head. Coffee, roasted malt and citrus hops in the aroma. Citrus hops, pine, grapefruit, followed by a blast of coffee, toasted malts, slight dark caramel - very nice. medium body, carbonation is right. I prefer the VBA, but this is a worthy substitute - drinks likes 5% and a beer that I could gladly have multiple bombers of. pfriesen (113) - Richmond Hill, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 8, 2012

Appearance : Pitch black with a big creamy brown head. Nice lacing.
Aroma : Great fresh leafy and citrusy hops. Nice passion fruits.
Taste : Great hops, leafy, fresh and citrusy again. Light roasted malt. Finish is a bit roasty with light notes of coffee.
Overall : Great hop profile. Really enjoyable an tasty. Among the good examples of the style but not a top example. Still very clean and well made like everything from Sean Lawson !
Tons of citrus hops in the nose along with plenty of dark malts - chocolate and roasted coffee. The taste is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lots of chocolate, lots of caramel and a ton of citrus. Minor notes of dark fruit and dusty yeast. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 21, 2010
750mL waxed courtesy of nimbleprop. Pours a hazy, deep mahogany with an excellent tan to brown head. Excellent, infinite retention. Aroma of dank, fruity hops; smoke; toast, coffee malts. Taste is extreme nutty bitter, walnut skins, pecan skins, slight spicy alcohol. A wickedly intense Black IPA. 100+ IBUs all the way. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 24, 2010
Dark nut brown, large-bubbled cream head, bit of manure. Nose of pale malt, pine and earth, bit of bread crust. Flavor has long bitter finish, bit of graham cracker, pine, lightly creamy lengthy finish. Very balanced, as I’ve found most of their beers to be.
