Bottle sample at RBWG grand tasting. Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet maple syrup notes, caramel, bread, raisins, and wood. Maybe a bit thinner than some of the other Lawson’s brews I’ve sampled.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #99. Bottle shared by Leighton at the Grand Tasting. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of heavy maple, raisin, wood, citrus. Taste is maple, citrus, raisin. Medium bodied.

Sampled at 2014 RBWG Grand Tasting. I thought smelled better than it tasted. I got a little maple in the nose, and maybe some milk chocolate. Taste was a bit more earthy and I didn’t really get much maple.

Bottle at RBWG Asheville Grand Tasting. Pours lightly hazy amber with a bubbly head. Nose of lightly oxidized malts, bread, toffee. Light to medium sweet flavor with awkward bready malts, mild leafy bitterness, brown sugar and golden raisins. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Sweet finish, more oxidized malts, sugary bread. So so.

A: Heavy Amber Hue, Passes Mild Light, Off White Head Ring, Some Lacing

S: Maple Syrup, Bready

T: Maple Syrup, Sweet Bread, Mild Crackers

M: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Sweet

Overall, like a scaled down version of Maple Triple but without the sweetness or booziness....Im torn.

Bouteille 22 oz. Brune-rousse semi-translucide. Nez et bouche: malt caramélisé et sirop d’érable, une pointe métallique et un peu d’alcool en finale. Un peu trop mince.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2013 Tap. Pours clear reddish amber with a small tan head, creamy with some lacing. Aroma is caramel and maple dominated. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, lightly bitter, with a touch of something like orange zest mixed with metal on the finish. I have had a couple other maple beers that finished this way as well, and I am not a fan. Light body, some warming on the finish from the ABV.

Draft at Black Back. Pours a rich amber color with a finger of eggshell foam. The nose is a tad sweet with a dose of maple, some earthy wet leaves and a touch of pine. The palate follows the nose with soft earthy notes mingling with a rustic maple backbone that lingers nicely in the finish.
