Leighton (21879) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2014
Bottle at RBWG Asheville Grand Tasting. Pours lightly hazy amber with a bubbly head. Nose of lightly oxidized malts, bread, toffee. Light to medium sweet flavor with awkward bready malts, mild leafy bitterness, brown sugar and golden raisins. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Sweet finish, more oxidized malts, sugary bread. So so.

A: The beer pours amber in color with an off-white head. S: Sweet maple and bread are pretty much it on this one. It’s exceedingly simple. There might be a touch of apple and pear, maybe some woody notes and toffee. T: Like the nose, most of the character is just sweetness. A fair bit of sugar, toffee, and brown sugar with perhaps some toasted bread. Despite being so high gravity, it’s a little bit watery. M: Medium in body with medium carbonation. O: Nothing offensive or repulsive, just boring, bland, and uninteresting.

22oz bottle shared thanks to Tom! Batch 145 and bottle # 76. Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of eathiness with some lighter maple. Tastes of maple and brown sugar, some lighter earthiness, and lightly bready.

1st and only slight miss from them. A touch flat and muddled. The maple sweetness is nice but that’s all there really is bedsides a touch of alcohol. Just ok.

2.8
deyholla (11914) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 16, 2011
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber brown with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma is a bit thin with a sweet grain and fruit note as well as a hint of caramel. Flavor is thin as well with sweet grains some fruit and a bit of caramel and maple in the finish. The lack of maple really let me down.
