A really nice and suprising beer. I’d never heard of these guys and someone at our last tasting brings this out and wow. Really tasty. Huge citrus hop nose with tangerine, and an overall floral character that was really intruiging. Appearance was a nice deep amber color and a two finger thick white fluffy head. Flavors I could pick up were biscuity malts up front and then the sharp citric hops take over and then it all comes together nicely on the end. I could get some clear lemony twang all thru the beer as well. Really interesting beer. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - JAN 14, 2008
bottle, from trade with 5000. Ok aroma, citrus, grapefruit & orange. cardboard & paper, seltzer, pine. Not very strong though. Cloudy brownish orange color, Good head and lacing, head was around most of the way with big splotchy lacing. Bittersweet flavor, not one to get excited about, not particularly bitter or sweet, kind of dull actually. Medium to thick body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. Well, maybe it was my bottle, but I didn’t like this one that much, dumped the last bit out rather than finish it off. bhensonb (15627) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 11, 2008
Pine and floral aromas. Decent amber color with a rather weak white head. Full bodied with fairly mild carbonation. Flavor is lots of hop (could be resin and citrus) and some roasted malt that is a bit overwhelmed by the hop (good thing, that). Finish is pretty dry, pretty hoppy, and really tasty. Wife got this bomber for me a Christmas gift. Well sat in the lazy boy chair and cracked this one open. Aroma was floral and pine. Orange body with off white head with ring od lacing left on top of pint glass. Flavor had more of a sweet sugary and malt backbone with a good dry hop bitterness in the mix. Not as cool and crisp as I like em’ to be but a good brew. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 28, 2007
Pours a dark bronze with a big head that lingers. Pine and citrus hops on the nose. Very smooth, with a great complexity to the flavor. Starts with a bit of caramel malt, then moves toward a resiny bitterness - perhaps a bit strong at the end. This one’s better than its rating lets on - nothing spectacular, but a great fallback when nothing more intriguing is available.

pour is a clear dark amber with a medium size light beige head, and good lacing.
smell is not to strong, light grapefruit, caramel, malt in the back, some citrus, a little roasted nuts, a little pine, and some spice.
taste is a tad watery, grapefruit, heavy on the hops, some citrus, and malt, ends bitter. Naven (1000) - Poway, California, USA - DEC 13, 2007
Bottle from Jimbowood. Beautiful looking dark orange/amber color. Huge hop nose. Flavor is the opposite: Thin, light, boring. This hop profile, which I presume is predominantly cascade, doesn’t work for me. A little more oomph, and this would be a winner. SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 9, 2007
22 oz. bottle, from John’s Marketplace in Portland. Pours dark orange amber with a small white head that diminishes quickly and leaves fairly thick lacing. Aroma is more faint than expected, but features a floral and citrus hopiness along with an underpinning of lightly caramel malts. Flavor is fairly balanced with more of the caramel malts, but dominated by the bright hops, citrus peel, a bit of pine and a somewhat dusty finish. Palate shows a medium body with prickly-creamy (I know it sounds weird) carbonation.

Copper color with a nice velvetty head and awesome lacing down the whole glass. Has a toasty malt aroma with notes of mineral earthy bitterness. Mostly caramel malts in the flavor with light earthy hops and a slight grapefruit and piney bitterness. The finish is more sweet than bitter. A mild IPA. JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Courtesy IBrew2or3. Poured a clear copper with a thin off-white head. Moderate piney hop aroma, mild pepper in the background. Pine resin and grapefruit flavors linger above the malt backbone, giving a short, mild finish. Pretty mild for a NW IPA.
