Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia’s original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia’s version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). Pretty darn tasty. Nice sweet, smooth body with enough carb to give it a little kick at the end. Sweet potato not really noted... but I’m sure it added to the sweetness and decent body.

DocJitsu (1974) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - FEB 7, 2015
Pours a silky, nearly black with a rich taupe-brown head. Creme brûlée, coffee, and a light scorched note on the nose. Moderately thick and slick, but disappointingly lifeless mouthfeel. The scorched note in the aroma dominates the flavor. It even lingers after the finish. Quick not of brown sugar sweetness underneath. Whit of a tart taste runs through. Horehound candy is noted as well.

decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JAN 28, 2015
Brown black pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is roasted malt and light coffee. Flavor is slightly sweet start with light chocolate, a hinto coffee, and roasted malt. Good malt bitter. Medium bodied and a touch fizzy. Bitter lingers on the back of the tongue. Ok beer

M82 (469) - Kansas, USA - JAN 3, 2015
Black body with subtle mahogany highlights beneath a frothy, evenly textured, khaki head fading back to a thin, incomplete ring and very minimal lace

Pleasant aromas and flavors with mild richness focused on vanilla and chocolatey roots with dark caramel and subtle treacle and smoke opening to a layer of coffee offering a compliment to the earthy potato tones, just a hint of clear sweet potato notes as this one builds up through the delicately coating, mildly spritzy, softly drying, light-plus body offering minimal roasty-sweet residuals

12oz bottled on 11/24/14, branded as alias Jeff Stout, served at 45° into 14.7oz Zwiesel Cognac snifter

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Tastes sweet, like light pecans, starchy potatoes, light chocolate, toasted malt, creamy. Light body and low carbonation. Light starchy sweet potato aroma, with some chocolate, caramel, and toasted malt.

sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 2, 2015
Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted malts, sweet potatoes, light earthiness, some chocolate, and faint lactose. Flavor is dry and bland with just some roast, chocolate, and very sweetness. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

Bottle in fl. Very sweet aroma. No resemblance to stout. Hard to place despite familiar taste. Caramel galore. Just not very good

The strangest beer I've ever tasted. Oddly lacking in any noticeable aftertaste

3.3
EtTuCthulhu (1391) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - DEC 21, 2014
This beer pours a thick black color with a medium tan head that fades quickly to a ring atop the liquid. The aroma blends a strong vegetal sweet potato scent with undercurrents of cream and roasted malts. The taste is initially mildly umami, but that quickly subsides to a heavy sourness, slight malt bitterness, and mild sweetness; however, the aftertaste returns to a strong roastiness. The palate fuses a medium body, slick texture, and a soft carbonation.
