Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia’s original Sweet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia’s version of the ideal Southern-Style Stout. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors.

Pours black with a decent tan head that stays around for while. Aroma of coffee and dark malts with a coffee taste on the initial drink. I could not detect the Sweet Potato but will try on the another attempt. Slightyly dry finish.

Tap on Bourbon Street. Thick opaque black with a steady oily beige head. Mellow roasty chocolate aroma. Classic stout, big mossy chocolate tones. Medium to full bodied, quite sessionable. Mild roasty coffee notes. Straightforward, a well done offering.

Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout has a thick, tan head and a dark (almost black) brown appearance, with some reddish highlights at the edges. Only a little lacing is left behind. The aroma is of sweetness, malt, and cream. Taste is similar, with charcoal, coffee, a touch of chocolate, maybe some sweet potato, and a decent amount of underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, yet watery on some ways. Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout finishes wet, sweet, and drinkable. Overall, this is excellent. RJT

Pours a dark brown black pour. Nose is sweet chocolate with hints of brine. Taste is sweet with a off vegetable taste. Finish is sweet, slightly lingering with some " off flavors " , presumably the sweet tubers. Decent ! Quaff Score 7 / 10

A bit more bland than I would’ve thought and I’m not sure what the sweet potato added to this. Nice mouthfeel, though, very creamy. Josh brought this one back with him from Mississippi in 2013.

Deeply black with a dark brown hue. An almost sour roastiness - dark dried fruit, fig, plum. The flavor is embodied by aggressive roast on a chalky tart delivery. A decent novelty that had me thinking of gently sour porters. Of course, this may not have been intended.

A black body with red highlights. Initially it poured with a thick brown head but if faded away almost completely. Aroma had a nice mix of roasted and coffee malts and a nice semi-sweet chocolate profile. Flavor seemed to have more of it roasted qualities present than its sweeter notes. It wasn’t a bold roasted flavor it was just the dominate flavor. A slight sense of smoke to it in the background. Aftertaste seemed to have more of a sweet potato peel flavor than the actual potato. It added a some sweetness and an earthy bitterness. Body was smooth and had a good mouth feel. No carbonation.

Bottle - via Ale in the Mail. Very dark and opaque. Aroma is roasty with malt. Interesting and pretty good. Sweet but not overly so, definite roastiness and some flavor of sweet potato. Also notice a slight metallic aftertaste

16 oz bottle pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is malts and chocolate. Sweeter then usual. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
