COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

Light toasted aromas of nuts (pecan I guess) and caramel malt. Pours a light brown color with minimal head. Good flavors of sweet pecans but not overpoweringly so. Almost creamy mouthfeel and light as well. An easy drinker and pleasant brew.

Bottle. Rich, nutty pecan aroma with notes of caramel malt and some grassy hops. Pours cloudy caramel colored with a thin, but retentive tan head that also has some lacing. Starts with rich caramel/toffee malt flavors with some nutty characteristics. Finishes smooth and a bit dry with excellent pecan nuttiness and a touch of grassy hops. Quite good, incorporates the pecans very well.

Poured from bottle. My first beer from Mississippi, I think. Nut and gas in aroma. Good lookin clear amber with big lacing head. Tasting caramel, nut, brown sugar, cream soda. Maybe some hops in back. No real carb bite so it feels like a soft drink. Slightly sticky and sweet. Overall, just ok.
