I’ve never heard of or have had Lazy Magnolia. This was the first. Draft in South Florida. I really enjoyed this beer. It poured a pretty off-orange-light brown almost like a Blue Moon. I was thinking it would be too sweet or too citrus flavored based on the smell. Instead it surprised with a robust hops, rye overtones, citrus flavors and light malt flavors. It was smooth but with robust flavors all around. The citrus was primarily orange and maybe passion fruit.
Bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear dark amber, with a moderate khaki head. Decent lacing. Nose is dark malt and caramel. Taste is malt backbone, some caramel, and a spicy rye finish. Not over-hopped, and well balanced. Good stuff. Cavie (4725) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUN 6, 2017
Bottle. Clear, light orange. Big citrus orange peel in the aroma. Caramel malty notes with defined sweetness. Sweet notes in the flavor. Rye spice on the finish, dry lingering. Malty notes play a big part upfront. Citrus hops as well. Koelschtrinker (20585) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 2, 2017

Bottle at Red Hot. Dark golden, fine pearls, golden lace. Perfumed, grassy, minerally/earthy notes. Medium full, well balanced sparkly, easy on the palate. Broad hop profile, earthy, minerally, pine, citrus peel, not too catty. Nice! SinH4 (4935) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - FEB 8, 2017
Bottle. Clear amber-orange color with eggshell head. Aroma is grapefruit, some earthy hops, spruces, piney, some rye spiciness. Taste is grapefruit, piney, mildly spicy rye, some residual sweetness, bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel. Nice! kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 18, 2017
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber body with a small frothy off-white head. The nose is a little light on the hops for a DIPA. There’s a pretty equal citrusy hoppiness and toasty caramel maltiness to the aroma. The flavor is pretty well on par with the aroma. Not quite enough hop flavor or bitterness to compete with the malt. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Meh, not quite what I want in a Double IPA.
