Classic (at least in Canada) bourbon barreled. Very smooth and thick and balanced. Very good drinker.

Almost black with small brown head. Slightly sour fruity and coffee aroma. Good roasted bitterness with coffee, chocolate and vanilla notes and fruity sourness on the background.

AleRider78 (1469) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2017
Pours a 2 finger mocha coloured head and has a pitch black appearance. Comes to a thin brownish layer. Somewhat weak lacing. Aromas of mild alcohol, light molasses, dark chocolate, vanilla and mocha. Flavours are mainly dark roasted malts, chocolates, coffee, spiced hops, hints of caramel, toffee and a bit of vanilla. Some very mild hints of alcohol and bourbon in the finish. Mild warming sensation. Slick and light watery mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Full bodied. Overall, not too much alcohol in your face but still 9%, makes it easier to drink and enjoy. After one 750ml bottle though, quite enough. A little pricey but still worth trying at least once.

(Le Bilboquet La Corriveau Impériale (fût de bourbon)) Bottle 750ml at Anticarnaval tasting. ABV 9%
Dark brown to blak colour on the body, a full finger of thick, light brown head on top, with good retention.
Aroma of sour red wine, cherries, some roasted malts too.
Taste is nicely sweet with chocolate, roasted malts, cherries, bourbon and vanilla.
Medium thick body, soft carbonation.
Very good.

75 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, and liquorice - with a bitter finish.

Huge yellow-beige head, stable and a bit irregular over virtually black beer. With a little delay, rich Bourbon, vanilla aromas, further laurel/bay leaf, conifer. Roast & sweet, Bourbon, vanilla, young oak, alcohol, esters. Bit of both chocolate and liquorice. Whereas the nose suggested laurel, here I would hazard a hint of mint. Rich bodied, alcoholwarmth, velvety & voluptuous. Medium carbonation. Nice !!

Benzai (16751) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - FEB 25, 2017
Bottle @ Anti-carnaval Tasting. Opaque black color, average sized light brown color. Smell and taste malts, tannins, metallic a bit, a bit roasty, dark malts, red fruits, moderately bitter. Decent body, a bit thinner texture than I would have expected, carbonation is decent.

DutchDrebus (6237) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - FEB 25, 2017
Bottle @ anti-carnaval tasting. Black colour with a medium sized light brown head. Smells sour, cherry peel, metallic. Tastes alcohol, cherry peel, heavy, cloyingly sweet. Full body, soft carbo.

3.7
Bawelt (874) - Lyon, FRANCE - JAN 6, 2017
Nectar de bourbon. Très forte, très présente. Manque clairement de subtilité et d’arômes plus variés. Cela reste un superbe produit plein de coffre et de caractère.
