COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This one is different than the Bieropholie version as it has a different yeast and hops. It has also some difference through the fermentation process. The malts and the honey are not exactly the same. And, of course, this one has less alcohol. They have the same type of aromas, but some esters are really not the same.

RBWG Winter Gathering, Asheville, courtesy of 3fourths, thanks dude!!!! :-). Pours a amber color with white head. Caramel, cardboard flavors. Too much age.

Amber red pour with light tan head. Aroma is large dried fruit and oaky like. Flavor is sweet almost cherry like and funky. Medium body with ok carbonation.

Taster at RBWG 2014 grand tasting - thanks to the person who shared this! Mostly clear dark brown red color. Thin khaki head. Some dots and ropes of lace. Pretty sweet taste, some alcohol warmth. Lots of caramel malt, and dark fruit. Hint of chocolate, toffee. Lighter carbonation, kind of smooth and creamy. Eh, alright scotch ale. Good complex malt character, but yeah, has a lot of the characteristics of english scotch ales that I’m not crazy about. Tastes like it may have some age on it, too.

Bottle. Pours clear brown with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast, caramel, and cookie malt with earthy hops, smoke, dates and figs. Flavor is sweet malt dominant with dark fruits, light smoke, earthy and spicy hops with light bitterness and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2014 From bottle, undated. Low carbonation leaves a thin ring of a head. Oxidized brown malt / wet cardboard, honey, yeast / dough. Nothing but sugar in the mouth, dear lord. Simple syrup, agave, honey... this stuff will give you a headache. Can’t take much of it... low acid, low carbonation, thick, chewy, flabby texture... some fermentation effects / fusels in the finish.

Bottle @ RBWG. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Heavy sugar, toffee, somewhat oxidized aroma. Low carbonation. Brown sugar. Cardboard. Old. Thanks Mike!

Bottle. We were worried because this was a slow gusher after the pop of the cap. Deep amber color with a ton of head. Ok, in the clear, no infection but I believe this is an old bottle. Nose of malted wheat, caramel and edible flowers. Toffee and toasted caramel malts, traces of honey and a slightly off flavor. Nothing real terrible. The flavor is real sweet on the borderline of cloying. Body is medium with a sweet sticky texture.

Évaluation no. 71 Février 2011.
