Rich, muddy brown hue with a tight, creamy head. Strong chocolate, light molasses and iced (sweetened) coffee hit the nose first, along with a mineral twang. Flavour begins lightly sweet with soft chocolate, turns sour like lemons towards the middle and finishes with herbal and coffee tastes. The finish is notably dry and mineral rich. Medium to full bodied with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. Raspberries somewhat replace the sharp lemon flavours as the beer gains warmth. Shared from a 75cl bottle at Gastropub Tuulensuu.

750ml bottle (Tuulensuu, Tampere, French days 2008) shared by Tbone_ - thanks! As "brun". Deep red. Aroma is sour initially, but roasted coffee later, and quite sweet. Good carbonation and sour in the mouth. Taste follows - a little sour too, and also roasted - that builds up over time. In some ways it’s a little watery, but on the whole it’s a pretty decent mix of tastes spoilt only by the unsophisticated sourness.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, not much head. Aroma is fruits, metal, yeast, earth and sourness. Flavour is mild fruityness along with caramel and sugary hints. Earthy aftertaste.

Ruby color, not much head. Grassy, a bit toffeish aroma. Cellary, slightly sourish taste. Very earthy, grassy biere de garde. Very French with English influence, not like Belgian brunes (label says "brune").

75 cl, from the brewery. Deep dark brown color, thin but persistant foamy head. Malt, toffee and a hint of licorice in the aroma. Malty, salty flavor (Maris otter malt?) with laurel, caramel and licorice. Long salty aftertaste. Very British, very well made and not without complexity, just a tad thin, maybe.

A hazy dark red beer with a small collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel. The flavor is dry with notes of roated bread as well as a light smoke note.

Red brown colour with a medium baige head. Light sweet malty prun aroma and a thin prun hoppy taste. Light body and a bitter dry finish.

Bright from the conditioning tank.
Deep amber almost brown colour. Dense appearance with juiciness and richness. Spicy malt flavour with mature hop complexity. Nice but too strong to be session beer.

Dark with plenty of aroma and bitterness. Fairly strong. The bottles condition well and the drink seems to improve further with time in the bottle.
