Courtesy of Erwin. Thx! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG II. Very dark brown with little tanned head. Nose is sweet choco, mocha, chocolate, dark grains and spices. Taste is bitter with some roast upfront, chocolate, grains, dark grains, milky coffee, light hay and grapes, bitter herbs in the back. Strongly grainy body. Very enjoyable sweet stout. Bottle. Low fluffy light brown head. Pitch black body. Coffee cocoa aroma and flavor. Smooth and creamy. Low carbonation. Short aftertaste. jackl (8214) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 3, 2012
Bottle at the Semi-Final Tasting. Deep brown color with a small head. The nose is sweet caramel and powdered sugar, cola sweetness. The taste is very fruity - blackberry, cranberry. A bit tangy indeed. Lightly lactic, with a big runny toffee malt base. Medium body, soft carbonation. Perhaps this has a mild infection? Overall, I don’t seem to be a massive fan of the style. This was OK. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 3, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a one finger fizzy brown head. The nose is really quite nice, very chocolaty and sweet with some nice roast and lactose. The flavor is pretty solid as well, nice clean lactose note without being overly sweet, milk chocolate, light roastiness, and a bit of light yeastiness on the finish. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering sweet finish. This was pretty darn good, very happy with this one, especially at a $4 price point. 75cl bottle. Pours black with a nicely proportioned crema head. Nose of dark chocolate and cream. Taste of dark chocolate and liquorice. Palate medium bodied and textured with a creamy finish. Overall, a very nice stout.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to coat surface. Chocolate aromas. Silky with mildly sour chocolate and pumpernickel front to back. superspak (5685) - Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2014
750 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, brown bread, herbal, grass, pear, apple, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, brown bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, light fruitiness, and roast/yeast earthiness. Slight earthy hop/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and roast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of roasted/bready malt and moderate earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice English milk stout. All around good complexity and robustness of roasted/bready malt and moderate earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering. Garrold (5341) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 27, 2013
Bottle from Jug and Bottle, Bubwith. Dark brown. Tan head that turns into an odd, green tinged film? Aroma is a sour, vegetal weirdness. Some blackcurrant. Some roasted coffee. Taste errs toward the sour side of all that. Smooth palate, though, and oddly quite enjoyable. Insipid, it isn’t.
