A special offering and a big cheers to our dear friend and Brasserie d’Achouffe co-founder, Christian Bauweraerts. It’s a golden pale ale, belgian style, hopped with Sterling and Ahtanum hops, dry hopped with czech Premiant hop leaves, unfiltered and refermented in kegs.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity and yeasty. Bitter, herbal and grassy. Phenolic and almost bubblegum like. Bitter and dry into the finish.

On tap at Le Cheval Blanc, pours a completely clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, horse blanket, sort of like a saison. Flavour of Belgian yeast, some wild, rustic notes, a bit of horse blanket and and dry leather. Tastes way better than it looks. Very sessionable and flavourful. Solid.

A hazed blonde ale with a thin white head. In aroma, herbaceous catnip hops with light citrus notes. In mouth, a belgian hops whopper with light candy sugar, belgian hops, corky notes, puckering Brett notes. A challenging ale. On tap at brewpub, April 23, 2010.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2011 My Bottom Line:
Banana esters, spicy hops and plump straw coalesce in this characterful New World Golden Ale, a refreshing hybridization of Belgian, American and Czech heritage.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the cloudy blond.
-The spicy hops add a wonderful touch to the otherwise estery aroma, and lots of flavor and bitterness. Everything is levelled though, so all ingredients can be enjoyed equally.
-The many tiny bubbles make for a bubbly mouthfeel.
-Timid honeyed cereal sweetness add to the complexity. This is, as you can imagine, a tad sweeter than the typical Belgian-style Ale.
-This is hard to categorize, and that is perhaps one of the reasons I find it so successful.

On tap at the brewpub.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy golden color with a large white head. The aroma is a nice strong lemon and citrus, some zesty hops. The flavor is a sweet citrus note, lemon, some light herbal and spicy hops. Enjoyable for sure.

(Rating #3007)

In short: A highly refreshing original Belgian blonde ale. A lemony bouquet of grass
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy dark yellow body topped by a persistent small white head
In long: The highly aromatic nose is a bouquet of flowers and dry grass over a lemon pie. Taste has a lot of dry hay/straw, a touch of honey, lots of flower petals, lemon. Pillowy full body. Finish has a mild-medium citric tartness, mild dry grassy bitterness. To call this beer sessionnable is an understatement. This beer is a refreshing new take on the session blonde ale. I would drink pints and pints of this beer. It’s because of beers like this that I don’t have abs of steel. I can’t operate a welding torch when I’m drunk.

On tap at the brewpub. Nice clear light gold pour, white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, quite grainy, spicy hops. Taste is a real treat, good balance of sweetness and hoppiness, with just a hint of yeast spice. Palate is well carbonated and fluffy, body is medium-full. A real tasty quencher.

Drank from the tap, a pint. Dark golden colour, darker than expected. Nice aroma, the hops are present. Some malt. Nice mouthfeel, the yeast is present, Tasty hops aftertaste. I liked this one 7/10
