Draught. Deep dark brown with a small yellow/mocha head. The aroma has chocolate creaminess, coffee roast but generally more of the former. Soft creamy body that leans towards the thin side. Dry fruitiness and chocolate finish. Not bad. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 30, 2004
black, foamy beige head. roasty malt aroma with some coffee and caramel. very little carbo, extremely smooth mouthfeel. flavour starts out a little chocolatey and malty, but gets a bit thin. not bad. csbosox (1229) - Prairie Village, Kansas, USA - JAN 17, 2007
On tap at LCB in Oct ’05. 5oz sample. Looks black, at the bar, with a frothy, khaki head. The head sticks around and around like a nitro pour, but I am not sure it was. Coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and roasted malt aroma. The external cig smoke is a bit overwhelming. The taste is sweet, initially with roasty, chocolate, and coffee flavors, in fact, a lot of coffee. There is some bitterness that gives it espresso notes. The finish is moderately bitter. Full body. Robe noire surmontée d’une mousse crémeuse beige persistente. Arômes de pain et de malt torréfié. Saveurs de levure, de café et de malt torréfié. Houblon de soutien. OKBeer (1171) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - JUN 14, 2004
Jet black, opaque, with a thick, creamy, nitro, tan coloured head. Coffee / cappaccino and chocolate aroma. Slowly growing coffee and chocolate bitterness, drying out on the finish. Dry and lightish mouthfeel. On tap at the brewpub.

on tap at the brewpub. pours a completely black body with a thick creamy tan head, reminiscent of a nitro beer. aroma is strong with coffee, but also held a bit of sweetness that i had a hard time specifying. the taste was excellent, a very solid blend of roasted coffee, malts and some sweet chocolates at the end. it had a great sweet coffee aftertaste, with almost no bitterness at all. my only complaint is that the body was a little light and watery. i am seeing that as a pattern in my ratings for this brewpub, maybe that is just their style, but i like a little more body, especially in a beer like this. still in all, an excellent beer. dirkules (629) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 9, 2006
