In short: A vinegary mess of a red beer
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy dark red topped by a very small beige head
In long: Nose is Cherry Coke™ with vinegary acidity. Taste is balsamic vinegar mixed with Cherry Coke followed by a whole lot of mouth drying red wine oak barrels tannins. Aggressive and unpalatable. So bad it was almost fun to drink, worst beer I ever had at Cheval Blanc, a brewpub I usually love. But I’m not mad at the brewer, he’s a good dude, I know his heart is in the right place, because if it wasn’t he’d be dead at birth.

A reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a beautiful maraschino cherries, sugar beet, kool-aid and lactic acids. In mouth, a nice smooth sour cherry and beers, dry and smooth. On tap at Off Mondiale Event at Cheval Blanc, June 8 2012.

Draught at Le Cheval Blanc, Montreal, June 8. Pours a hazy amber-brown with a small foamy tan head. Aroma of red wine, slightly sour, along with spices and tart cherries. Flavour follows the aroma and is pleasant to drink with a nice tart finish. Medium bodied. A lovely beer.

[4491-20120608] Tap. Black cherry juice aroma has a pungent tangy note to it. Slightly hazy, amber brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Cherry juice continues in the flavour with an odd peppery thing going on that hits the back of the throat. Medium body is funky. Not a fan but I like the cherry infusion. (6/3/4/2/10) 2.5

2012-06-08. Hazy red-brown body with a small beige head. 3+ Very strange flavour at first, acidic, fruity, notes of something sort of like cherry meets cherry pits, sort of a Flemish Red like "bite" or funk in the back end. Refreshingly sour. Its quite interesting, but a bit strange. 7+ Mild aroma, modest funk and fruit. Average plus bodied palate has an interesting mouthfeel as a result of the interplay between the acidity and the soft carbonation. 3+ Quite unusual, I am pleased to have tried it but at the end I can’t decide if I want more, or not! If nothing else the name sparked some interesting French vs. English conversation. On tap at Cheval Blanc, Montreal
