Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. 48 IBU. Amber with lace and a small head. Like a mild IPA, a good bitterness and tasty drinkable. Grapefruit in aroma.

[520-20070811] Tap @ Cheval Blanc (Montréal, QC). Wheat aroma with muted sweet fruit and a hint of nutmeg or other spice. Clear, pale yellow orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Mostly muted wheat flavour with a strange background leafy bitterness. Light-medium body. Fairly uninteresting.

(Rating #1149)

Clear amber body with a small beige head. Good lacings. Body is a bit thin. Crunchy grainy malts. The rye character isn’t prevalent although the malt profile does feel a bit crisper than usual. Roasted but not very caramelized, the sweetness actually feels more like earthy brown sugar. Tree barks and woody flavours abound. Generously hopped. Part of the hopping reminds me of their over-the-top India Rouge but this time it is mellowed out with some grassier aromatic hops. Long bitter finish. Certainly felt more bitter than the advertised mere 48IBU. A medium astringency adds to the drinkability. Give it a fuller body and we have ourselves a top notch beer. Nice addition to the Cheval Blanc lineup. Yet another beer to help with my thirst problem but worsen my drinking problem.
