500 ml bottle bought at at Les Marchants de la Bire in Sainte-Thrse (Quebec) on July 9, 2014. Black, medium head. Malted barley aroma with hints of chocolate and berry. Taste of burnt barley, spicy herbs, very dry, good bitterness. A good homage to an 100 year old tragedy!

Bierdimpfe (575) - Quebec, CANADA - JUL 7, 2016
Opaque dark brown color with no visible activity. Creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 10-15 minutes, with strong legs. Aromas of sweet dark fruits, toffee, oaky, and a little floral. Flavors of molasses, caramel, cocoa, grapes and berries, cherry, slight lemon, herbal spices. A little sweet with heavy roasted earthy bitterness and slightly vinous. Milky slick medium body with some perfect carbonation for the style. Strong and long finish, ending with highly spiced roasted earthy herbal bitter feel lasting on the tongue and some oaky woody feel. Overall a good craft offering good strong flavors, acceptable freshness, while not very accessible due to being a little overly spicy and sour.

Beardbeerman (341) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 16, 2015
Pours a seemingly clear cola letting through some fiery highlights and topped by a finger or so of fizzy tanned head, showing average retention and lacing properties. The nose is dark fruits, rausins, dattes, butter and brown sugar. The taste is toasted, nutty malts, milk chocolate, instant coffee and earthy hops. Aqueous as any porter would be and drops dry on the palate with no lingering flavours. As for respecting the style, this brew scores high. Cheers!

Brun fonc, aucune mousse, odeur de toffee et de lgre torrfaction. Got de fer rouill et de caf sucr. Pas de faute majeure mais pas bon non plus, personnellement, a ne pas racheter.

500 ml bottle from flaveurs dici A: chocolate, light roastiness/smoky app: dark brown with reddish highlights good lacing. T/p: med body with initial light acidity and finishes on a moderate long bitter finish. O: pretty good. I got to be honest wasnt expecting something that good. The light acidity with interesting malt bill makes for a good brew. Well done.
