Taster at Bieres et Saveurs Chambly 2010. The color is black with a dark beige head. This stout is served with a marshmallow that gives it a sweet taste. The aroma is of coffee and roasted malt. The taste that is sweetend by the marshmallow is still of roasted coffee beans, malt and added hops. The aftertaste is bitter sweet, this was something new and very pleasant.

Tap. Pours clear black with an average, rocky tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, roasted, coffee), light hops (woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of raisins, dates, and vanilla. Flavor is heavy malt (chocolate, roasted, coffee, cookie), light hops (woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of prunes and vanilla. Full body, medium warmth, low carbonation, medium-low creaminess with a lightly sweet finish.

Bottle @ mondial de la bière Strasbourg. A dark beer with medium head. Smell is very roasted malt. Aroma is very roasted too, it’s like we taste 1200 EBC malt, not bad but very roasted. Quite sweet and very long aftertaste nice stout.

Drank at the Fête Bière & Saveurs 2010 (tap with the marshmallow), in Chambly Quebec, September 5. Cola brown, thin beige head. Aroma of semi sweet chocolate malt. Taste of bittersweet chocolate, a bit cafinated, good bitter aftertaste. This is not one of Saint-Bock’s extreme beers, but it’s good!

NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 28, 2010
Draft at Churchkey DC. For the record, guimauves are marshmallows. Pours a deep and rich black/brown. Nose is sweet, vanilla and molasses, powdered sugar. On taste, full bodied with more big sweet notes and vanilla. Less molasses and more brown sugar in the taste. Slight acrid notes as well. Almost a burnt marshmallow note. Pretty interesting stuff.
