(Embout. 3 nov 12) (501-311212)

500ml bottle (thx, Charles F.!) shared with George. Bottled on 2017-06-10. Pours an almost black with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, fruity, slight bourbon notes. Similar taste. Quite dry. As usual for QC stuff, not enough bourbon barrel aging presence. Just a good stout.

Bottle. Can't read the date. Pours darker than my mood on labour day when I know I have to return to the education factory the next day. Really big aromas don't quite match the shallowness of the flavour profile. Brown sugar, bourbon & coke, watery coffee. A bit boozy & too sweet. Wonder if this would have more personality without the barrel aging?

Barely any head, no lacing, dark Ruby brown with minimal light transmission. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate and toast. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, roast grain and hints of vanilla. Alcohol is noticeable but not in a negative way. Medium carbonation, slight silkiness. Really easy drinking imperial stout.

It pours murky dark brown;the head is beige and foamy. The aroma has notes: chocolate, rum, charcoal, and smoke. The taste is medium sweet that finishes heavy bitter. The palate is medium-heavy bodied with light carbonation, and has a medium finish. Overall, very drinkable and creamy.

Bottle, thanks to Yourilevesque. Pours inky black with beige creamy head, whisky-mocha aroma, high carbonation, bitter coffee taste laced with whisky, thin body, long bitter mocha finish with slight alcohol aftertaste. Strong and tasty.

From Youri. Lots going on here, from the yeast, a complex malt profile and a nice subtle barreling. Only US beer I’ve had like this one is territorial reserve from COOP, where it was more malt and hop focused and only partially barreled. This one has dark fruit, molasses, mocha and a little oak and vanilla and roast. Full, but not boozy at all. Drinks well lighter than 99% of the imperial stouts I’ve had, but I can’t say I mind here. Pretty impressed.

Pitch black with a thick tan head. This 500ml bottle is just a month and a half old if you ignore the time spent in the barrel. It's got a really cool aroma that gives me something different each time: smoke, oak, molasses, floral hops, umami, nuts. Full bodied and smooth. The taste is dark bitter chocolate, nuts and oak. A bit simple after the complex nose but good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

QcBeer (195) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 7, 2016
