500ml bottle poured in a snifter around 10 degrees. Pours an opaque black robe topped by a finger and a half of porous moka head. Retention is moderate and lacing is not really present eventhough the brew is warm. Of course no carbs are spotted due to the opacity of the beer, but the vivid head lets you guess they are present. The nose is subtle with burnt and nutty notes and some hops. The taste is light with the barley coming in smooth with diluted burnt toast and a certain nuttiness. The good aspect of the beer is actually the way the hops roll on the back of the palate and return to the sides of the tongue, making the finish quite enjoyable. A fair stout with a good palate but lacking robustness in the flavour profile. Cheers!

50 cl bottle. @ Timo A. Bottled on 04.06.2014. BBE 06/2015.
Pours dark red color with a large beige head. Lots and lots of coffee on the nose, cocoa, caramel and some bread. Malty bready flavor, very dry, nutty, coffee too, dark fruits and ash. Medium carbonation. Very refined and tasty.

Pours like a stout, with a small, quick-fading tan cap and a bit of lacing. Nose is....like a stout. Chocolate/coffee/roasted grain, but all three are somewhat faint. I almost get more molasses and liquorice out of the nose. Taste is definitely more interesting. Sweet caramel and molasses/burnt sugar, chocolate and coffee, some alcohol and a bit of astringency I can’t quite place . Finish is surprisingly dry - lingering bitter chocolate and coffee, but also some ambiguous hop bitterness that’s nice (this bottle is a year old). Mouthfeel is nice and creamy, but I found it a bit watery. Overall still decent stuff.

Marheb (6193) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 6, 2014

nasmith003 (252) - Virginia, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Light malty aroma with a dark coffee color. Malty taste with a hop back. Hops linger along with a toasted malt aftertaste.

Luvystypotables (2067) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of espresso. Ebony colour with a short lasting tan head. A watery feel with an extremely smokey taste, and a hint of espresso. A bitter finish and a lasting bitter after taste.
