Amber color, clean. Nice aroma, seet caramel, smoke, and a hint of butter. Good body strength, nice malt flavor, and the smoke is delicate but well present, perfectly complementing; the finalnis quite bold, bitter.
On tap at St Augustine’s, pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out a nice fire pit quality, with some ash and a touch of roast. Flavour is along the same lines, with ash, smoke, and some leather. Medium intensity smokiness. Balanced and clean, but nothing overly interested. Solid. Smoked lager, at Festival Bières et Saveurs 2009.Light brown colour, with big soapy white head. Served too cold.Average mouthfeel, some smoke of course in the aroma. A good lager and smoke, but not that drinkable, a glass was too much.

2009-06-06. Dark amber body is essentially headless. Smokey pulled pork and bbq aroma. Flavour is fairly mild, touch of smokey undertones that have a subtle layer that I am not fully appreciating. A compelling smoked meat personality flows through the quenching, lean body finishing into a gripping finale where this lengthy earthy smoke evolves into a supporting leafy hop bitterness. A simple and effective Rauchbier from Trou du Diable which has to seduce with its thorough fumes and captivating finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A clinging sheet of foam decorates the clear bronze.
-Carbonation is calm and the body quite snappy.
-A light underlying fruitiness adds some complexity.
-The malty body could be fuller and more expressive to really take this one into the realm of greatness, but as is, it remains a smashing quencher.

[2254-20090606] Sample. Smoked ham aroma. Clear, golden amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Smoky ham flavour has lots of malt then after is smoky. Medium body. Weird pork notes, but good.

on tap at noctem, qc. clear copper-oprange pour with a small creamy light beige cap offering some retention and lacing. toasted fruity and lightly smoked maltiness, lagering red fruitiness, pepper oranges as well, cayenne, hint of sweetness - treacle and specialty caramel, grass. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; balanced gently smoked mineral-grassy finish. a lower gravity offering (it is now wuld make it an excellent apéritif beer, nicely paired with homemade pork 6.2% erky on da house. pretty solid rauch. Présence d’un très mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de malt fumé avec une pointe d’houblons. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût.
