Pours a slightly cloudy brown color with ruby highlights and a thin offwhite head. Very good aroma of chocolate, fruits and toasted malt. My Bottom Line:
Well-extracted maltiness produces a round mouthfeel, presenting crunchy cookies and mild caramel flavors. Supporting wooden hoppiness balances out the back end in this quirky, drinkable Altbier.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear copper.
-The nose is full-on grape juice, which is obviously not desired (or desirable).
-For a first batch, this is quite decent, but as with many Trou du Diable, I have a feeling it’s only going to get better in the next batch!
