A blonde belgian ale with a thick creamy frothy white head. In aroma, fruity esters, loads of cloves, red melon, berries. In mouth, a smooth belgian ale with light cloves, bananasa bit like a crystal weizen, nice and smooth. On tap at Vices et versa, Feb. 13 2011.

WVRST tap takeover. Yeasty and a little funky. Often a superior Belgian pale ale contains some spice or characteristic of interest. Although I do not find one here, only a story in yeast,it is drinkable, a nice changeup.

2013-05-26. Crisp dark yellow body modest off-white head. 3+ Aroma is mild, grassy lightly lemony hops, mild pale malt, very very mild yeasty notes. Flavour is surprisingly mild, lightly grassy hops, very mild fruitiness. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Needs a little something more all around. Just okay. On tap at Wvrst, Toronto

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2010 Second and third tries, from different batches:
A spicy, orangey fruitiness seeps from the well-extracted pale malt sweetness, and the Belgian yeast signature renders greater complexity. Still very drinkable, but much better rounded overall, and more flavorful too. I have to say the herbal qualities of the hops and the doughy yeast character kind of clash though... 3.4/5 and 3.6/5

First try:
Any first impressions?
-A sheet of foam covers the clear pale gold.
-Bubblegummy yeast emanations and characterless cereals fail to excite the nostrils.
-Macro lager-like cleanliness and very basic cereal flavors astound the palate.
-The rather prickly yet low carbonation cannot conceal the watery passages.

What if you dig deeper?
-Cereals again polish the finish.
-Chick peas appear in the nose after a while; is DMS starting to show its repulsive self?
-There really is not much to talk about in what turns out to be a macro replacement Belgian Ale. A rare disappointment from Trou du Diable.

On tap at the brewpub. 2.6/5

Tap at Wvrst. Pale golden gorgeous brew. White head. Sticky and lovely. A bit of juicy and citrusy character. Peppery and spicy with a fresh estery finish. A bit of pear and apple esters. Nicely dry and a little bit minerally and leafy on the back. A touch of noble character. Fresh and quite tasty. Delicious.

[5395-20130526] Tap. Mild plastic straw yeast aroma. Clear, bright orange body with a quick foamy white head. Light bitter fruit grains flavour. Light-medium body. Not a fan of the style. (5/4/6/3/11) 2.9

Nice light sessionable Belgian. Pours clear golden with ok head and lacing. Light floral aroma with some yeast, sweet malt and a touch of tangy booze. Sweet and tangy finish with cool zest at the end. Average carbonation, slick texture. Tap at Wvrst.

(Rating #2617)

Draught at TdD Tap Takeover, Wvrst, May 26. Pours a beautiful clear gold with an average size diminishing frothy white and nice lacing on the glass. Mild aroma of grain, light hops, fruit and bready malt. Flavour is Lager-ish with more grassy hops in the finish. Average to medium bodied. Interesting but ultimately just O.K.

Backlog time. Rated May 26, 2013 at Volo, Bright clear brassy (I swear it looked a little green) gold with virtually no head. Very spicy and grassy, generic Belgian golden ale, really. Taste - amazingly simple - like a clean light lager with "Belgian character" - grassy, lightly fruity, mild yeast. Light body, mild carbonation, quick and clean finish --- not really my thing, but well enough made at least.
