Bottle from the brewery store, enjoyed in my hotel room in the beer wasteland of Havre St Pierre Quebec. Solid black color with a huge bubbly tan head with great retention. Rich chocolate with light fruitiness and somewhat of a dubbel profile. Tasty, but not quite what I was expecting.

Bottle into glass. Malty coffee aromas. Pours a very dark brown with off white head. The taste is hard to describe, umami with some light bitterness I guess. Full bodied, with slick texture and a long somewhat malty finish. Nice take on the Baltic Porter.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2017 My Bottom Line:
Wealthy raisins and dark chocolate establish themselves atop the roasted maltiness, while licorice and molasses add a dash of sweetness to this plump Baltic Porter.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the blackness with brown edges.
-This has world-class potential written all over it.
-The nose is a beautiful prelude to what is to come in the flavor profile.
-The finish has a touch of tobacco earthiness.
-All malt flavors are united for the greater good, and continue into the finish. They work perfectly with the restaurant’s "côtes levées du diable".
-The lovable, round body is one of its finest features.
-Carbonation is prickly, making the round body feel lighter.
-Roasted malts and leafy hops offer just enough bitterness in the finish. This is balanced, like most TDDs.
-Like most of their beers, this one is of the same intensity from nose to flavor profile to finish.

Bottle and on tap at the brewpub.

Goldorak (438) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 22, 2007
Dark as night, it first had a perfectly pearly white head that was an amazing contrast in color. I had to ruin it all by swirling my glass around, which promptly turned the head into mocha.
Cocoa powder and freshly ground coffee, it smelled like inside those high-end coffee shops/dessert cafés.
Plenty of dark fruits (blackberries) gives it a good sweetness and licorice - not enough for me not to like it, I’m usually not a big fan but it worked. Moderate body and flavor tends to be more chocolate than coffee, which suits me just fine. Perfect amount of alcohol warms your throat without burning it. Another winner from a great brewpub.

On tap at the pub. On tap at the pub. Pours an opaque black body with low carbonation and a lasting beige creamy head. Lovely, complex malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar, roasty, and fruity hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Well balanced taste. Texture is soft. Taste carries plummy, vineous notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Well done.

On tap at TDD. Dark brown pour with hints of red. Nice roasted aroma mixed with candied fruits and coffee. Taste is not overwhelming, just a nice balance of fruity sweetness and roasted bitterness. Palate is a bit thin, but quite enjoyable.

AU mondial. Plus léger qu’une stout, assez carbonisé, torréfié, un sucre leger mais distinct.

on tap at bateau de nuit, qc. clear very dark brown with a nice creamy beige head, good retention and lacing. dark roasted malts, burnt hazelnuts, maple, smoke, resin and umami, some sweetness. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily and almost sticky, bold resinous and bitter coffee finish. much enjoyed this bold baltic porter.
