THIS ENTRY IS FOR BARREL-AGED Buteuse only. It is only available in 750 ml bottles. 375, 500 and 650 ml bottles are made of the regular Buteuse. This version has been aged in oak barrels which had previously held an apple brandy from the Michel Jodoin cidery. One of its fermentations was also done with brettanomyces.

"Cette bière exceptionnelle, fermentée grâce à trois levures différentes, a vieillie quatre mois en fût de chêne américain ayant hébergé le brandy de pomme de la cidrerie Michel Jodoin. On y retrouve un côté vanillé, épicé, torréfié et animal. S’y mélange aux effluves d’alcool chaud le caramel brûlé, la pêche, l’abricot et le tabac frais. Une sérieuse bière de dégustation!"

09/01/2018 - draught glass @Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Dark golden with big yellowish head. Nose is sweet malts, fruits, bit oak. Taste is malts, fruity, bit caramel, bit vanilla, some oak, bit wine, Calvados touch, creamy feel. Nice.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2017 On tap at Arabella Park. Funky brandy aroma. Tasty tart beer with spice. Not much malt. Very good.

On tap @ Arabella Park - puts a hazed light copper colored ale in the snifter with a demure surface lace. Aroma is complex - Vinous, sour beery, stone fruit, burnt treacle, mustiness. this becomes more intense as it warms - flavor is also a complex amalgam of musty sweet tones balanced with fruity sourness and sharp spicy notes some wood and vinous notes - goes to a long wet drying finish. Wow, what a sensory overload for the palate.

UWAGA: wersja po calvadosie!
Rami Rami is drinking a La Buteuse - Brassin Spécial (2017) by Le Trou du Diable at BXLBeerFest Zarowno beczka od calvadosu jak i bretty delikatne. Calosc nadal triplowa, polwytrawna, kwaskowata, ciut przyprawowa, nieco jablkowogruszkowa
Rami Rami: Bardzo gladki, z fajnienukrym alko, ta lekkos w polaczeniu z 10% robi wrazenie

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2017 BXL BeerFest 2017. Barwa pomarańczowo miedziana, zamglona. Piana, ktora przykryła piwo jest biała, wysoka i średnio trwała. Aromat kwaskowy, jabłka, winogrona a nawet ocet. Kompletnie nie pasuje mi to do tego piwa. Smak: kwaskowy nie przypomina klasycznego Tripel'a. Wiodące: słodowość, zioła, owoce i lukrecja próbują pozostać w równowadze z kwaskiem. Alkohol schowany. Wysycenie wysokie, gryzie w jezyk. Ciało średnie.

Pours a golden body with a medium head. Yeasty sweet aroma. Malty taste with a nice mouthfeel but a bit too boozy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tried this one with my neighbour. That one was given to me by a good friend a connoisseur. Happy to have tried it.

Draft. This is the calvados version, not the brandy version, but I’m not 100% sure they’re different. Hazy orange body with small white head. The aroma has strong apple cider, cognac, vanilla. The taste is strong but not alcoholic. Slightly burning. Apple, apricot and a strong finish of cognac.

On tap at bar hop. Finally able to try this without dropping $50 for a bottle. Cloudy dark beige pour, with a small off white head. Aroma is very bready and yeasty. Lots of overly ripe fruit, yeast, and some boozy barrel. Mouth feel is full, carb is very soft. Low to medium bitterness. As it warms the base belgian beer comes through, loads of yeasty esters and more ripe fruit. The barrel also comes to thr fore front, with a lot of boozy, woody, barrel, light vanilla, and some musty apples. The brandy barrel gives a strong sweetness to the beer also. Complex, but does not lend itself to a warm sunny July afternoon.
