2006 vintage - 9.5% ABV, subsequent batches 7.5% ABV.

Pours a hazy brown with a small (and weak) head that leaves close to lacing. Aroma of banana bread and spices. Taste is fruity, full of banana esters. Mouthfeel is silky, body medium. Carbonation is medium+. Good beer.

7.5% ABV batch. Huge foamy off-white head atop a reddish-brown boys. Nose is very similar to La Maudite - with a white pepper, clove and grass front. Good depth, great Belgian yeast flavour with a solid red malt, and. apple. Lasting bitter hop and banana finish. Very good.

600ml bottle. Clear burgundy with a foamy off-white head. Flavors are caramel, cherry, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and licorice with herbal notes. Medium body, soft carbonation, sticky texture. Warm and spicy finish.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2014 600 ml bottle. Another gusher from Trou du Diable which appears to be a consistent trait. Two points off as immediate clean up really affects my enjoyment. Pours a clear mahogany with big head that settles quickly. Aromas of yeast, aged dried fruit, and toasted malts. Watery flavors of liquorice, resin, and spice (nutmeg and allspice). OK, but nothing to write home about.

Correcte.

2013 version, 12oz into a goblet on tap at Stillwell. Pours a gorgeous reddish-amber with a light, fluffy tan head. Aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon, with a rich flavour of dried fruit and spices. Pleasant sweetness, warming. Wish I had gotten in in time to try the 2012 which was also on tap recently.

2012- Fruity malt, rather sweet with a boozy finish. Cinnamon and nutmeg. Amber pour with a frothy head and lace. Very fresh hop fruit malt flavour. Strength well hidden in the 2013. Finish of spicy malt.

500ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo and carried back home for the Christmas celebration. Creamy, fawn-coloured head that stayed well over a amber-brown body, close to clear. Fair lacing down the glass. Moderate sweet-tart berries on the nose with earthy malts beneath. The flavour profile is caramel malts with interplay of fruits and berries added by a spicy touch. Sweet and tart ending. Fine bodied. Quite refreshing, if not that great (at home Tromsø 31.12.2013).

Bit of a gusher. Pours a darkish amber with red aspirations, mountains of head that take a while to dissipate. Very Belgian nose. Lots of fruit esters and spice. There’s something decidedly bready about the nose as well. My main complaint is that this brew is really quick on the palate. It’s there and then gone before you can assess it at all. There’s lots of spice and dark fruit, something...figgy. Some warmth does build up on the back of the palate after a few good slugs. Solid, but nothing to write home about.

Draft at the Sybarite Pig. Snifter. Pours a dark red with a thick white head. Some lacing throughout. Aromas of cherries, bread, yeasts. The taste was a little disappointing. It was rather bland with some fruits, light dark sugars, and a yeasty aftertaste. No real hop profile, nor much of a malt profile. Very light carbonation made it almost too light and rather creamy. I like a little more bold flavors.
