COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle (750 ml). Shared with friends at the brewpub. Thanks to minderminder for this one! Dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of red wine, red apples, cherries, raisins, brettanomyces and slight roasted and chocolate notes. Some oxidation notes(?). Taste is moderately sweet with decent sourness, red wine, slight roasted notes, brettanomyces, cherries, raisins and chocolate. Medium body. Vinous mouthfeel. Really strange beast here, it’s not your typical Porter! I’m impressed that they were able to do something that good for that kind of beer. But even with DDC’s and TDD’s magic, it’s impossible to make a great beer out of such a mix. Interesting, but not one that I’ll seek if it’s become available on shelves.

Bottle graciously shared by Minderbinder, thank you good sir! Pours black, at least it looked pretty "porter-like" in that low light, brewpub condition. Nose contains quite a punch, with roasted notes buried under some red wine phenolics. Taste is semi-sour with medium sweetness. Flavor is over the top vinous, with a good syrah feel. It might be a bit unbalanced though but I’d have to go back and get a second taste since that day we had pretty much been brutalizing our tastebuds for 8 hours nonstop. Overall a nice and original creation by two of the foremost Quebec breweries!

Draft at Blind Tiger for the DDC event with Max, Andy, Jay, JRedmond and others. Pours deep brownish black with a reddish tinge with a compact tan head. Aroma is slighlty sour of dark fruits (cherries and raisins) and malt with lots of vinous notes. Taste is woody, oaky and vinous with notes of tannins. Tons of oak/wine in the flavor here. More sour than porter. An interesting beer.

Brown black pour with a modest head. Roasted malt, red wine, oak in the aroma. Taste is the same, also getting black liquorice, cherry, some funk here as well. Nice sipper!

Quevillon (3196) - Boisbriand, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 25, 2013
Beer #10 at the 2013 Winter Warmer Montreal, on February 23, 2013. Very dark brown with a little red, no head. Barley aroma with lots of fruit, slightly sour. Barley taste the sour berries, hints of pepper, bitter sour fruit. A porter for adventurers, not for purist!

2013-05-25. Crisp dark brown black body, ruby highlights and a modest tan head. Aroma is modest, lightly sour lightly dusty malt. 7+ Flavour is interesting, lightly tangy and sour up front. Muted dark roast and dusty touches to the malt throughout. 7+ Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3+ Enjoyable but not really what I was in the mood for just yet. Relatively mild overall. Bottle at Volo, Toronto

Bar Volo feature. All the right bugs, and on a porter. A good blend, good drinkability. Lacy.

Nice barrel aroma. Not even sure what this is but it’s nice. Some wine, some bread. Pours blackish brown with clear maroon. Finishes a little sour and some sweetness. Some funk, some roast malt here with light smokiness. Bottle at Volo for Zwanze Day.

rederic (3344) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 7, 2013
750ml bottle, consumed at DDC, dark mahohany color, with a creamy beige head, with a light red wine tannin, wet woody, wild yeast, faint musty sour cherry, raisin fruity nose, with a faint roasted, chocolate, toasted malt note, and a dark bitter chocolate baking bar accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice warmth red wine, woody tannic, earthy funky, bretty yeasty, light sweet balsamic vinegar character, with a kind of leathery, sweet and sour red cherry, raisin, faint vanilla oak, dark roasted malt flavour, leading towards a warming, earthy sour red berry, leatthery, tannic, red wine woody finish.
