Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver; dated Jul 2013Beerhunter111 (20362) - P´Castle, GERMANY - SEP 3, 2016
Black impenetrable color with generous, light brown, compact head. Nice aroma, not too strong, but harmonious; vinous, with gentle roasted malts and a hint of smoke, dates and roasted hazelnuts. The mouthfeel is bold and smooth; quite strong flavor of roasted malts and roasted hazelnuts, with moderate residual sweetness, some dark chocolate, light acidity, and vinous character; more chocolate and red wine than oak barrel; luckily the roasted malts are not ashy; comforting alcohol: the final tends to be a bit nutty.
I don’t find roastiness and acidity to play a good game together usually; despite that, it’s still an excellent beer, with a high price tag unfortunately.
75cl bottle @RBBSG2016. Fast schwarze Farbe, geringe bräunliche schaumkrone. Geruch holzig, dunkles malz, reife dunkle Früchte, leicht alkoholisch. Geschmack nach reifen dunklen Früchten, holzig, gering schokoladig, alkoholisch, hohe Karbonisation. mcberko (17339) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 26, 2012
750mL bottle, courtesy of manuchampions (thanks Jon), pours a very deep dark amber brown with a big tan head. Aroma of light bourbon barrels, toasted nuts, vanilla and rubber. Flavour is very rubber-heavy, with loads of leather, some barrel / woody notes and a bit of chocolate. Not the most complex, and a bit off, with the leather / rubber notes. Disappointing, but solid nevertheless. Oakes (17274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2014 1 year old. Dark brown and mostly flat. The aroma is soft plummy, pruney fruits, and a dash of wood and alcohol. Soy sauce and sweetness, finishes with alcohol in the nostrils but sweet dark malt, port and soy sauce on the tongue. Not great, but better than the first time I had it. Old rate (2012): Dark brown. Aroma of wood and maybe a bit of wine. Rich taste but more boozy and lightly fruity...lacks the malt richness I prefer and goes down a bit hot. Ok, but a bit disappointing. 6-3-6-3-12 = 3.0
Bottle @ DTE tasting shared by JulianHuxley. Opaque black color, full sized decently lasting light brown head. Aroma is malts, a bit roasty, a bit winey and decently bourbon coming through. Taste malts, a bit roasty, even some fruityness in there and off course bourbon. The carbonation is a little fizzy though, a little high. Otherwise quite nice.

750 shared by Marcus. Pours very dark brown with a beige/tan smear. Aroma is bourbon/wine. Reboot brain. There’s a lot bourbon/alcohol in the aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is arguably a bit tannic/sour with smooth bourbon and dark toast malt. It’s very complex and tasty. Ferris (15020) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 12, 2014
Bottle - Oak and whisky notes, roast malts. berry and vanilla notes. Jet black and frothy brown head. Big whiskey notes, surprisingly milder and well rounded than the nose. You would have to be a huge whisky fan to truly enjoy this as that is the dominant flavor. djd07 (14369) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 1, 2016

A deep dark stout with a thick frothy brown head. In aroma, bitter chocolate, licorice, peaty notes and alcohol warmth. In mouth, a smooth peaty chocolate with burned coffee, vanilla, aniseed, loads of alcohol, nice. Tasted with GRM, Puskinwow, Boutip, Ian, Mike on Sept. 7 2012.
