COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This imperial stout, aged in bourbon barrels, gives notes of roasted malt on a coffee, dark chocolate and caramel background. The velvety palate is sustained by a sagacious amount of alcohol warmth that give this beer the taste and feel of a fine spirit.

750ml bottle @ ISKTR. Gusher alert! Pours pitch black with a massive foamy head. Aroma of caramel, coconut, toffee, roasty malts, hints of oak, dark chocolate and buttery bourbon notes. Taste is carbonated, sweetish and roasty with some oak, chocolate, hints of buttery bourbon. Finish is carbonated, sweet, syrupy and slightly roasty with some coffee, chocolate and hints of bourbon. A bit too carbonated.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Black with no head. Aromas of dark fruit, dark chocolate, booze, bourbon. Tastes of dark fruit, dark chocolate, light bourbon. Very light and watery body, especially for an imperial stout.

Backlog time. Rated May 25, 2013 at Volo, bottle. Opaque ruby-black with an incredibly long-lasting tight creamy/foamy tight biege head (4+). Smells a lot like their barley wine - apple must, yeast, light roast, subtle but present alcohol and bourbon/oak - quite dry. Taste - restrained roast, moderate alcohol, light oak - quite floral and airy, quite delicate - maybe a hint of astringency with a medium-quick finish; dry and quite fruity, not boozy at all. And "mabel" saying "haaaaaaaarrrrrrrryyyyyy!" repeatedly while I was dictating too, hmmph.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of black chocolate and light roasted malt notes with light bourbon notes though not as much vanilla as I would have expected. Taste is also mostly dominated by black chocolate notes with light green notes and light dry roasted malt. Bourbon notes are more subdued then I was expecting with almost no vanilla notes perceptible. Body isn’t as full as expected with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall not bad though not as complex as expected with not as much bourbon notes as expected as well.

750ml capped bottle pours black in color with a 2 finger light beige head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass while settling. Aroma is bourbon with some raisin and chocolate. Taste is bourbon with a chocolate malty and raisin sweetness with a moderate alcohol burn in the finish. Would rate even higher with more of a roasted presence, seems just slightly imbalanced towards the sweet side, but tasty nonetheless.

Bottle. Dark syrupy pour, no head. Aroma of burnt sugar, caramel, light coffee, some light bourbon notes. Taste is quite sweet, molasses with a bit of a roasted grain finale. Palate is a little syrupy, good body, not too heavy because of the slightly boozy finish but lacks carbonation. Decent IS.

Bottle 750 ml. Appearance: Pours black with a nice foamy brown head. Aroma: Strong bourbon notes, roasted malt, alcohol, wood. Taste: Bourbon, wood, dark fruits, roasted malt and warming alcohol. Overall: Very good imperial stout. Very complex and well balanced.

Pitch black color. Thin brown head. Surprisingly sour nose with lots of roasted malts, very vinous with light bourbon notes. The mouth is superb smooth, tart, vinous, lots of dark fruit. The end falls off quickly, but alcohol is well hidden. Sour with a bit of bourbon in the finish.
