Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with an average, creamy light tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is dark wheat, toast, and cereal with faint fruitiness and spicy hops; clean lager character. Flavor is heavy malt, light hops and bitterness with a clean lager character. Medium-light body, low warmth, and medium carbonation.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Itp ours a cola colored brown with a head that disappears is no less than two seconds. The nose is on the roasty side, almost porter like. The flavor is a mix of a little dark caramel note, wheat, roasted malt, and nuts (black walnut maybe). Interesting and different. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I wouldn’t mind a little more wheat presence here.

ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - AUG 16, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a light white head and spotty lace. Aroma is roasted malts, with hints of chocolate and smoke. Taste follows nose as the roasted malts with slight smoke and chocolate only seem to come through more in the finish after an inital bland wateriness. Smooth mouthfeel with moderate.

Chocolate and clove nose. Murky brown, medium yellow head. Nutty pecan, with bark accents. Some wheat bread in the finish, tangy throughout. Sessionable, yet rustic. Could pass for a brown ale.

Drake (14032) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 8, 2011
12 ounce bottle from Total Wine West Richmond, VA. Pours a brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of wheat, grain, slight roasty notes. The taste is tart wheat notes, chocolate, tart finish. Thin bodied. Weird one. Bad bottle I hope.

The aroma leaves something to be desired it’s dirty and metallic with toasted malt, caramel, and chocolate. The appearance is medium brown with an average head. The taste is like the aroma but better. The palate is a tad bit thin. Overall a serviceable beer but not great.

Dark nut brown color, small beige head. Caramelly, lightly toasted aroma. Light to medium bodied. Caramelly with some estery notes and light toastyness. Quite sweet; caramel-malty dunkelweizen.
