COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Blind Pig Dunkel Weizen

This is a medium-bodied, unfiltered dark wheat beer with a smooth, gently sweet character. The flavor has notes of chocolate and caramel combined with the cereal malt flavor contributed by malted wheat. Blind Pig is a very unique beer with few other examples of the German Dunkel Weizen style brewed in the Northwest, and certainly none as tasty.

Pours a dark brown color. Smell is mild, some yeast. Taste is wheat, spice, some banana, a lot of hops for this style. Overall a decent beer.

Can from Total Wine, Gainesville, VA. Pours clear brown with an inch of beige head. Aroma is very light: roasted malts and thats about it. Flavor is nutty coffee, browning leaves, toast. Not bad.

Can. It pours a dark brown/cola color with a light tan head. The aroma is roasty with some notes of cocoa, plum and raisin. Maybe a hint of coffee, but I think its mostly the roasted malt. The flavor is fruity with more plum and raisin. Mild notes of cocoa and roasted malt in the background. The roasted malt comes through stronger in the finish with a hint of ashy bitterness. The body is light, but theres some oily slickness on the palate that adds some depth to the strong flavors. It has a raisin bread-like malty backbone. A little sweet in the finish, but overall a pretty enjoyable take on the style.

12 oz can into a sampler glass, dark brown with short tan head. Hint of malt in the aroma, light body, little in the way of carbonation. Chocolate and toasted malt flavor, not much banana or clove noted. Mild malt finish with slight bitterness. Now I want to try a beer actually faithful to this style and compare.

12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Weizen Glass at 39. Color is a deep dark brown with mellow carbonation and a small off white head. Aroma is roasted malt with a hint of smoke. Body is a lighter medium with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor is roasted malt, a hint of dark chocolate and a little hop spice. After taste is clean with some bitterness coming in. Overall its a nice flavorful brew.

Can. Malty smellin dark beer. Taste is dark weizen. Perhaps a little more beefy than a mild dark weizen. Does not hide the alky well. As session continues there is some dark choco in there, just a little. Goes a little metallic on the finish. All this around room temperature. Went all the way to NC to find this beer, heheh.

Mild aroma of bark berries. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Flavor was ok but not rich or dark like I expect in a good dunkel. Eh there are much better ones out there.
