Winter Beer Fest, Philly: Pours brown with off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit, some hops, and plenty of malts. Taste is somewhat sweet. Mild hops (probably more than you would get in a German iteration). i didn’t find it all that complex. Not my favourite doppelbock. fiulijn (21471) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 9, 2014

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty dark fruit and caramel aroma. Sweetish malty caramel and dark fruit flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy caramel and dark fruit finish. Dogbrick (14009) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 23, 2013
This brew pours a reddish-brown color with a medium thick light beige head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and dark fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a lingering malty aftertaste. Decent Doppelbock overall.

(appropriately priced bottle that I believe is over a year old) Pours out a muddy reddish brown color with a very scant tan head. Aroma holds a lot of sweet scents, with smells of graham cracker, dark cherries, caramel, sweet bread, and a little bit of musty lager yeast that attempts to rise above the decadent aroma. Really well put together here, and is reminiscent of New Glarus Uff-Da. The flavor does not contain even near enough complexity and richness as the aroma, but it’s still inoffensive.with some flavors of chocolate, caramel, pumpernickel bread, and just a shade of cherry flashing by in the fore. Mouthfeel is medium and the carb is low. The finish carries on with flavors of toasty malt and some minerally yeast which comes off as a bit metallic. At the price point, this beer is worth purchasing for the scent alone, and the rest of the beer is solid except for the metallic finish. mnmike (1091) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Bomber pour into a stein. Old German style. Impressed by the aromas - couldn’t get a read on the appearance really. Good alcohol balance. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - AUG 31, 2012
Pours a reddish brown color with minimal head that quickly fades. Has some sweet bready notes and taste is similar with a little bite from the alcohol. robforbes (2269) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - AUG 7, 2012
pours a cloudy brown with a red tint, a small tan head, and good lacing. mbgrayson (810) - Anaconda, Montana, USA - JUL 23, 2012
smell is of malt, somewhat metallic, and caramel.
taste is creamy and sticky, toffee, malt, some grain, and few hops. ends creamy and with a slight funky aftertaste.
22 ounce bottle. Pours an opaque, dark amber color, with very little head. Aroma is slightly sweet. Taste is sweet and malty. This beer is smooth, tasty and drinkable. However, it really isn’t anything outstanding or special. I would still give it a thumbs up rating, and I am partial to the doppelbock style.
