2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not as hoppy or dry bitter, as most ESB’s. Another drinkable brew from Leech Lake brewery. Nothing outstanding, but a decent brew.
Bottle - small foamy head, hazy dark orange copper color, very funky (and not in a good way) aroma and flavor, sour/tart, sweet malt, not good at all - I thought maybe their IPA was just a fluke being so bad, but apprently not - I am 0 for 2 with this brewery and will not be spending any more of my money on their beers, sorry to be that way but just trying to be honest burgy (456) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - OCT 11, 2012
This is a great start to this brew! At 7% it tastes a little water heavy, but that makes it a nice summer easy drinking brew. Taste is still really solid. It was balanced just a little to clean for me. I will definitely buy this again. Great start to a "newer" MN brewer! BVery (10501) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 17, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Sampled at St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Hazy gold pour, white head. Sweet light fruit, caramel, and a bit astringent. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - APR 18, 2012
Bottle. Sweet and caramelly aroma. No hops in the nose and a medicinal quality. Slightly hazy, copper body with a quickly dissipating head. Flavor is salty and astringent. Not at all to style. Flawed. Sour. No discernible hop profile. Unfortunately a drain pour. emeinz (220) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 3, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2012 Bottle to glass. Brownish-amber pour with white head. A little too sweet. Notes of caramel on the nose as well as a bit of toastiness. Good stuff. I’ve had this beer a few times and its gotten better everytime!

This one was picked up at the liquor store in Walker in June. I’m just pulling it out of the fridge today. It still has the look and aroma of an ESB as well as a good head. Tastes maybe just past its peak, with the malt (toasty caramel) a little subdued compared to the herbal hops, but still very drinkable. Maybe a taste of soy. I found it just fine. I think the 7% helped it survive my late drinking. JK (6158) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - APR 3, 2011
Winterfest ’11. Something went wrong. Very sweet grain and far too much alcohol for an esb. Brown color. Bring the alcohol and sweetness way down. 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - OCT 11, 2010
Growler from the brewery courtesy of Captain Dave. Caramel colored pour with a finger of white head that leaves nice lacing. Sweet, caramel, fruity aroma. Flavor is a bit more caramel and more sweetness. Smooth finish, VERY drinkable beer at a sneaky 7% ABV.
