Bottle. Pours (dark) brown with medium fluffy beige head. Aroma: malty, flour, weak roast, caramel, chocolate candy, spices. Taste: spiced, cardemom, weak roast, candy, caramel. Thin to medium body. medium plus carbonisation for a style. Sweet-seasoned finish. Not for me. Kauge (2064) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 20, 2016
Bottle. BB 19.02.2017. Pours clear mahogany with creamy head. Lovely aroma of caramel malts, dried figs and dates, plums, and, indeed, a hint of aniseed. Tastes of the same notes, caramel more pronounced than the dried fruits, which makes it a bit thin and one-sided, but it finishes with a nice and refreshing aniseed moment. Expectedly sweet with a bit of herbal bitterness. Light to medium body, fine but active carbonation. A kind of smoky, roasty dry finish, earthy, black tea-like even. Had much better Dubbels but I quite like this! midovark (1041) - Balassagyarmat, HUNGARY - NOV 13, 2016
0.33 l bottle. Had this one before joining RateBeer, therefore this entry is based on numerical notes only. Parmenion777 (342) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 6, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2016 Pours a dark brown colour with a large beige head that quickly settled. A yeasty marmite aroma with some caramel malts and dried dark fruit. Creamy in the mouth, light roasted malt, caramel and marmite flavours, again prune fruitiness and with a dry light spicy bitterness in the finish.

Almost opaque dark brown color, with a copper hue, and storming activity. Slightly frothy light brown 2-3 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with faint lacing. Flavors of black liquorice, dark grains, plums, cherries, peach, herbal spices. Thick sugary feel of dark fruits with slightly bitter roasted malts. Slick and smooth almost full body with crispy carbonation. Strong finish, a little dry and vinous, lingering ester fruits, leafy spices, and a strong presence of liquorice. Lacks freshness being a little metallic. Feels a bit like a port, would serve this as an appetizer being very sweet. Good flavors, but nothing amazing, yet the aftertaste is quite nice. Overall good quality craft. phfyysik (1395) - Tartu, ESTONIA - SEP 25, 2016

33cl swing top bottle. Klare rötlich braune Farbe, mittelgroße beige schaumkrone. Geruch nach roten Früchten, Karamell, leicht holzig. Geschmack süß malzig, rote Früchte, Kirschen, wenig Himbeeren, leicht hopfig, gut! VDuquerroux (1821) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - JUL 24, 2016
Bottle, 33cL. Home. Brought back from the Namur beer festival. A dark brown beer with shining mahogany hues ; big off-white foamy head with a medium retention. Roast, licorice, anise, caramel note, herb, raisin. Medium sweet, round, warming baseline, light dry bitter fresh episodes. Medium good body, thin oily texture, average carbonation, dry refreshing spicy finish. Overall, a great dubbel ; this beer would do a great christmas ale. Swaroga (2223) - Warszawa, POLAND - JUL 16, 2016
33cl bottle. Dark brown but clear with medium head. Aroma is very fruity, mostly dark and dried fruits like figs and plums but also apple, banana, raisins. Some cake with burned bottom and coca-cola. Strong carbonation and fluffy texture. The beer is medium sweet, dry like cooked fruits with clove and with no sugar. Aftertaste is earthy with almost like a delicately smoked plum. Finish is medium intensive though. Beer isn’t interesting at all but not completely wrong.
