Asylum is in the style of a Belgian Tripel. It has a beautiful golden color. Its relatively light body is deceiving for a beer of its character. It has a sweet and spicy, complex fruity aroma and flavor derived from our distinct Belgian yeast strain. Asylum finishes with a subtle, warming character to help you relax on any night. Asylum is an exceptionally smooth Belgian-style brew. Drinking great beer brings the world together. “Vrede op aarde” (Peace on earth).

Yeast, oranges and pepper in the aroma -- nice depth. Pours to a cloudy, brownish yellow with a minimal head and lacing. Sweet taste with a sweetly dry (nice trick) finish. Enjoying the high ABV buzz along with shrimp and rice for dinner.

Smooth considering the alcohol content, few sips in and already feelin it, should be a good dinner.

22 oz bottle pours out a brownish orange color topped with a sand head. Nose is toast malts candy sweetness a little bit of brown sugar and some spice. Taste is more of the sweet malts spice a little bit of Belgian influence.

Glinting golden amber color with a thin head of offwhite head of soapy foam. Concentrated caramel malt backbone with some sweet plum. A bit oily slick on the mouthfeel. A tad medicinal in its delivery. Overall a surprising good Tripel that hides its ABV well.

Worst beer I’ve had in a long time. Absolutely disgusting. I mean it makes PBR taste good. I just about puked when I tried it and that is no exaggeration. Belgian style tripel, funny joke.

Flaska på Thunder Bay Grille Pewaukee. Orangefärgad med vitt skum. Tung doft med bourbon, torkad frukt och kola. Lite spretig med kola och torkad frukt.

A great tripel is like a flavor/texture starburst; this one is like a stomp through a swamp. First of all, it looks scary: it’s murky, brown, sewage-like, without enough carbonation to at least lend it a transcendent bit of zest. On the palate an initial inviting citrusy element quickly succumbs to outright bitterness. An earthy, vegetal bitterness that overwhelms. I’ve had quite a few bland/dull tripels - - it’s a tough style to excel in. This one is not bland/dull - - it’s an unbalanced murky mess. Maybe it was on the shelf at the Total Wine in Vegas for a couple years - - I can only hope that’s the problem - - because this borders on undrinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2016 Restrained funky aroma in a golden amber pour. Huge malt body belies the style - but is eminently drinkable. Way too strong to enjoy as many as one would want though.
