Glinting golden amber color with a thin head of offwhite head of soapy foam. Concentrated caramel malt backbone with some sweet plum. A bit oily slick on the mouthfeel. 355ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey, deep golden colour with small, frothy, diminishing, white head. Bready malty, fruity and peppery spicy yeasty aroma, lots of marzipan, hints of honey and apricot. Taste is sweet, bready malty, fruity, alcoholic and minimally peppery spicy yeasty, notes of marzipan, honey, hints of apricot. Oily texture, full body, lasting and warming finish.

Worst beer I’ve had in a long time. Absolutely disgusting. I mean it makes PBR taste good. I just about puked when I tried it and that is no exaggeration. Belgian style tripel, funny joke.

A great tripel is like a flavor/texture starburst; this one is like a stomp through a swamp. First of all, it looks scary: it’s murky, brown, sewage-like, without enough carbonation to at least lend it a transcendent bit of zest. On the palate an initial inviting citrusy element quickly succumbs to outright bitterness. An earthy, vegetal bitterness that overwhelms. I’ve had quite a few bland/dull tripels - - it’s a tough style to excel in. This one is not bland/dull - - it’s an unbalanced murky mess. Maybe it was on the shelf at the Total Wine in Vegas for a couple years - - I can only hope that’s the problem - - because this borders on undrinkable.
