COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Roger Maris made history when he beat Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1961. He played straight to the point baseball that wasn’t flashy or boastful. He clocked in, knocked dingers and clocked out. He did his job and did it well. Our Pale Ale he inspired intends to do the same. Brewed primarily with Maris Otter malt, Maris* is a down to earth nutty beer made for a day at the ballpark. Don’t let the asterisk fool you: like his record, Maris* is the real deal.

I love Left Field but there was something about this one that didn't agree with me. Too rich and malty with grassy notes. Just not for me.

On tap at the brewery. Pours an average size frothy white head with good retention. Has a pale golden appearance. Thick sticky lacing. Aromas of light grassy hops, also floral notes as well as a little bit grainy. Flavours are also grassy some decent amount of fruit notes. Nice dry and crisp finish on the palate.

These guys rule. In a gentrified neighbourhood in TO where the neighbors complain about noise, but still line up to refill growlers. This is the only beer of theirs I tried after a Jays’ game. It was pretty good, I hope they continue to grow.

Draft at bierhalle, Toronto. Clear body, small white head. The aroma is fresh, with lots of hops. The taste is great, very hoppy.

This is a tough one, its easy enough to drink, but something is off - very malty and rich, not like a pale ale, but more like an english beer. Its good, not quality issues or balance issues, just has no aroma, or striking qualities other than its a bland beer. But its still good to drink. Very easy for a new to beer person or if your other choices are cans of bud. Not like any other pale ale I’ve ever had.

Bottle from brewery. Fruity and slightly skunky aroma. Bitter harsh mineral and grainy taste with some grape. A little booze in the finish. Find pale ale.

Bottle in Brew Box. Warm golden yellow with white head. Fresh lemon and straw aromas. Biscuity flavour with faint lemon aftertaste. Rather plain, bit still enjoyable.

Bomber. Clear good pour, medium white head. Aroma is sharp and big on pine. Soft, mineral, maltiness with some biscuit. Good carb and mouth feel. Medium bitter finish with some solid malts and good hops. Hints of citrus but mostly pine with some pithy bitterness.

Tap at Craft Brasserie. Pours pale straw with lots of head and lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, cereal, some pine. TAste med/light bitter and light sweet. Medium body lively carbonation.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a golden orange colour with a small white head. Aroma is grain, fruits, malts. Taste is similar. It’s ok.
