Draft. Deep brown body with a frothy beige head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of burnt wood, smoke, roasted malts alcohol, chocolate, earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sweet malt malt flavor backs up peppery alcohol and bitter hops and acidic roasted malts. Light smoke, light ashiness thrown in. Nice that these are not overwhelming. A sweet doppelbock with roast and smoke.
On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear very deep amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a rich smokey note that even imparts a bit of bacon with a sweet dark grains. Flavor starts with the same bacon smoke note with a bit of underlying dark gains and a hint of roast. Draft. Poured clear brown with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate smoke malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet smoked flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex good beer. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2013
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Clear red orange amber color. Minimal off-white head. Dots and ropes of lace. Bigger body, kind of slick. Crisp, lighter carbonation. Good big meaty smokey aroma, more meaty than your typical smoked ale, I think. Dry rub meat, ooh yeah. Moderate bigger bitter and a savory taste. Some dark fruit, some fruity tropical hop. Very interesting, intense smoked doppelbock. (listed as 10.5% at Ei8ht Ball, probably a mistype) alexsdad06 (10821) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2013
Draft at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a clear deep amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma and flavor have a big smoked character, malty, some sweetness, earth. Not too bad. b3shine (9154) - Indiana, USA - NOV 24, 2013
Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good for the style; a transparent dark copper with thin off-white head. Smells of SMOKE first and malt second. Tastes like it smells with a touch of oxidization. Average on the palate. A solid example of the style.

Aroma: The nose of this one had lots of sweet malts, smoky notes, wood, and a bit of earth
Appearance: It pours a clear reddish color with a small beige head and some light lace
Flavor: The flavor is more smoky than nose, but otherwise, the components are very similar
Palate: It has a medium body, a pretty solid mouthfeel, and a dry, smoky finish on the mouth
This one was more on the smoke malt side of the style than the bacon side of the style. Overall, I found this one to be quite enjoyable.
Smoky doppelbock goodness. Pours a ruby color with a white head. Hints of caramel, smoked meat and malt. Travlr (26134) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Draft. Ruby maroon color, medium off white head. Aroma of burnt bacon, charred wood. Taste has a core of summer fruit engulfed in campfire. Interesting. drcboehm (104) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Draught at the Lodge, Hilton Head Island. Great selection of beers. This one SMOOOOOKED! RobertDale (6860) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - FEB 21, 2013
On tap. Comes amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of smoke, smoke, and caramel. Taste is smoked meats, caramel, and malt. A bit odd, not my style I guess.
