Black beer. No head. Strong coffee bean aroma. Strong flavor of java. Thin consistency but not watery. Some bitterness. Kind of a boring beer but coffee flavored so how could it suck? Because I dont drink coffee.

Taster on tap at Neon’s. Black color. Good thin tan / light brown head. Good, more full lace. Nice, bigger turkish coffee aroma and flavor. Good moderate to heavy roast to it. Awesome big roast coffee flavor, for the 6%, I like this type of coffee. Medium body. Smooth, softer carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Great big roasty coffee bitter aftertaste, as far as coffee stouts go.. I much prefer this to Java Lava, this is way more up my alley. Love the long, coffee aftertaste. Great moderate to stronger bitter taste, minimal sweet. Super good flavor. This could be improved upon with maybe a bit more of a chewy, thicker body. An imperial version might be awesome.

Draft to taster. Looks good; cola with thin beige lacing. Smells of dark malt and dark roasted coffee. Tastes like it smells with a touch of chocolate too. Solid on the palate. Not bad.

Growler @ Cumming Growler. Black pour, dark as black coffee! Dark brown foam, thick head. Aroma is complex. Smells of rare coffee beans, chili powder, dark ground chocolate, cold espresso grounds. Taste is all coffee, sharp, bitter, & black. Some sweet malts hidden in there, not sure about hops. It’s all coffee. High cocao chocolate bitterness, lingering black coffee flavors. Hopefully it doesn’t keep me up all night! (3734)

black, with creamy off white head. Big coffee on the nose. Coffee flavor carries over with a cocoa tone. Almost a maple aroma as the beer warms. Medium mouthfeel. Quote good

poured a clear dark brown nmearly black with a lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roastiness and bitter chocolate with a smooth lingering coffee finish.

On tap at Luck Pie Lodo. Pour is deep brown with a big tan head and great lacing. Huge green coffee, peppers, cocoa, toasted bread, and caramel in the aroma. Taste is overwhelming coffee - so dominate - really tough to discern anything else, smoke, green peppers, somewhat tart, and caramel. Thin body with high carbonation. The coffee is way too overpowering and completely dominates the beer.

On tap at Boulders on Broadway. Clear dark brown color with a filmy head. Huge coffee nose; seriously, the aroma is nothing but cold-pressed coffee. Coffee forward on the taste with roasted malt and light woodiness. Medium body (but still light for a porter). Damn, Left Hand had really dialed up the coffee on this since I last tried it in Feb. 2012. The coffee dominates (almost suffocates) all other notes in the beer.

Sampled @ AZ Strong Beer Fest. Loved that they made a beer strictly for events like this...and that this one clocks in at 6%. Aggressive aroma and flavor, particularly for the more traditional ABV. Dark roasted coffee, mocha, rich chocolate, espresso, and a hint of caramel sweetness. Creamy mouthfeel. Damn good!

Draft at Sergio’s after Zwanze Day 2011. Pours dark brown to black with a medium sized beige head. The aroma is coffee, char, dark chocolate and some mild spices. The flavor is dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, light earthy with some mild spicy notes. Decent black coffee bitterness to the finish.
