Black with a dark tan head. Aroma is strong black coffee. Flavor is roasted coffee malt with a touch of sweetness. A tad bitter in the finish, but not unpleasantly so.
Half growler. Pours jet black with just a smattering of creamy, nitro-looking foam on top. Aroma is dark roast coffee with a bit of cream and caramel. Front tastes of graham cracker, coffee and dark toast. Bits of ash and a little lactose in the long aftertaste. on tap @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Opaque brown/black color, smooth beige head, sheets of lace. Appealing aroma of roasted malt. Taste is velvety smooth roasted malt that swells into a lightly fizzed swallow, then glides to a rich, chocolatey finish. Had on draft at Nobi ,,, pours a deep brown black, lacing is well off .. Nice and toasty, like a piece of burnt toastie .. . Mouth is decent and i’m a lemon headed son of a bitch!!
Draft at Ellyn’s Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL., and tulip served showing a black/brown hue, with frothy, deep tan head foam that spilled over the rim, and foamy cling to the curtainy lacing. The nose was roasted, cocoa, and coffee notes of smooth malt, with touches of nuttiness, and caramel & toffee sweetness. The taste was similar notes, with moderate, roasted & earthy bitterness, sufficient carbonation, a little less than medium bodied, but pleasant silkiness to the mouthfeel. Draft pour from whole foods in Lincoln park. Jet black with off white head. Sweet, raisin, cocoa aroma. Chocolate milk and slightly but taste. Smooth. Creamy pallette. Tasty beer
Aroma is a nice roast coffee. Smooth roasty porter w coffee notes. Deep brown, black color with soft tan head

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a deep-deep brown nearly black beer with a one finger tan head. The head a faded relatively fast to give light lacing.
Smell – The aroma is of roasted and dark smells. Coffee is the strongest, but there is a strong presence of chocolate, and some char and roasted malt as well. Rounding these out is a light caramel aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with the roasted malts, some chocolate, sweet caramel and a good dose of coffee. The caramel however fades and as the coffee grows stronger in taste the brew bitters in taste ever so lightly. These slightly bitter dark flavors take the taste to the end where a light char flavor and some sweetness comes back to the tongue, helping to deliver an overall very roasty flavor.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. A little thicker body may have been better for the roasted and dark flavors, but the feel is not bad as it accentuates the easy drinking nature.
Overall – The beer is a nice, semi-sweet roasty brew. Good if you are feeling something with a good dose of roast, but that is yet still very easy drinking and “light” in body.

1 day old from growler from Ray’s in Tosa’s new "growler gallery". Pours a very, very dark brown with a tan head leaving light spots of lace. Aroma is coffee ... and coffee. Fresh green coffee beans, with rich, roasty espresso kicking in behind. Later some lactose and some caramel show through. Taste is of sweet cocoa, heavy roast, sweet milk chocolate, and some caramel malt. Actually a bit thin - likely medium bodied. Finishes more sweet than bitter on that bitter-sweet scale, but with solid enough roast to maintain some balance. A nice fresh - coffee forward - brew! 14.1
