UPDATED: MAR 26, 2007 Ft. Myers, Fl. - Total Wine - 12 oz bottle. Dark ruby red to brown pour with a fluffy mocha colored head. Good sweet chocolatey aroma with some earthy notes. Solid porter flavor with good bitter chocolate notes, a hint of dirt and a bit of day old coffee. Mouthfeel is tongue coating, thick and nice. Solid Porter. This beer didn’t do much for me. It had a fair amount of roasted malt character, but also had an odd vegetable taste that seemed out of place. Not a beer I’d recommend, given the great number of porters in the world.
Color was an opaque black with abundant head. Aroma was a lightly sweet roastiness. Flavor was a muted roastiness, with an aforementioned vegetable taste I didn’t really enjoy. Mouthfeel was unremarkable. All-in-all, I wouldn not recommend this beer. ilikestuff (224) - Irving, Texas, USA - MAR 12, 2007
This brew made me want to brew a porter. Great roasted chocolate flavor, and slight sweetness make this a great beer. wheninhell (488) - chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 2, 2007

Very roasty london porter...dark roast grain, chocolate, coffee grounds, caramel and a touch of smoke in the finish. A bit thin-bodied, a detraction, but not terribly objectionable. Another fine offering from these guys.

(bottle)poured into a tulip. pours a dark ebony with frothy head, carbonation is present on the glass. aroma is of sweet malts. has a sweet front, smoky malty middle, to finsih. aftertaste is of smoked malts. carbonation is present on the palate, not a very milky smooth porter. pretty good porter. A thin, flavorless porter. Very little aroma at all; just a hint of roasted grains. Flavor has more roast but overall this is very light in every way, including the light brown color. stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2007
Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts. The flavor is sweet, roast, chocolate, a little thin in body, but still preety good. Dsnutz (71) - dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 21, 2007
Black Jack porter pours such a dark brown that it’s almost black. It has a small amount of deminishing head, with a little bit of lacing. Overall it’s an OK porter.
