Many times weve heard, more is not always better. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. This Double ESB pours a brilliant deep ruby amber with a rocky near white head. The nose opens with bright spicy and herbal hops, with hints of dried fruit and port. The flavor starts with a chewy, bready malt and hints of brulee and kola nut that are suddenly swept away by thyme-like and hoppy bitterness. The strong herbal flavors then give way to a dry finish of licorice, gentian, and Italian bitters. We hope you enjoy!

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, spices, and alcohol, tyme stands out among the spices. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit both fresh and a bit over ripe, combined with medium notes of caramel and alcohol. The latter leaving a slight burn along the sides of the tongue. Thanks to Alex (fiulijn).

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Fat aroma of caramel and hops. Full-bodied with lots of caramel, overripe fruit and roasted malt - some spiciness too. Hoppy finish yet not overly bitter. Were really talking Barley Wine borderlands here. 030707

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2008 Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear deep amber, brief head. Grapefruity caramel aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Firm and solid maltiness. Concentrated flavour of grapefruity hops and licorice. Some caramelly malt flavour is found underneath. Long salty bitter finish. A solid beer beautifully lacquered with massive amount of hops, but not a whole lot of depth.

After some shaking, it pours a hazy dark amber color, with a small, creamy, persistent head. Mild aroma of malt, caramel, vanilla, fudge. Good malt flavor, rich, with medium sweetness level, caramel, vanilla oak; correct bitterness level, not realy evident; the alcohol is warming. Good malty brew, as Barley Wine it could stand a few more years.

2007-07-03, corked bottle, 9% ABV, 8-5-8-4-16=41
Cloudy amber color; huge creamy head; nice lace. Hop aroma, but also malty and a bit cheesy. Very malty brew, and a lot of caramel; only then the bitterness comes in, strong, but not enough aromatic, resiny nor fruity.

Hazy amber color, small beige head. Grassy, aromatic hoppy aroma. A bit creamy, some roasty malts and then hops. Malty-hoppy aftertaste. Quite easy.
