Bottle poured a hazed amber/orange color with a small off white head. Aroma was heavy caramel malt with some slightly old citrus and pine hops. The flavor was bitter with an orange taste backed by strong malt and alcohol.
Pours orange to brown with a beige head, aroma of marmalade, orange and caramel, flavor of marmalade orange and caramel, medium bodied Andrew196 (1902) - Katy, Texas, USA - SEP 29, 2015
(Nitro) Deep Amber color, frothy white head. Floral aroma, some citrus and grain. Full bodied for the style, rye, tobacco, more bitterness came through in the finish than I wanted but not bad GTAEgeek (2217) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JUN 8, 2015
On tap at the GA Chapter Room. Pours dark brown, with a medium, tan head. Nose is licorice, light smoke, resinous hops, rye, and some sweet earthiness. Sweet and earthy, with a fairly aggressive bitterness. Medium to heavy body, chalky, hard, and thick. This is an assertive, bitter, and flavorful beer. Unique nose, and over done bitterness, yet still tasty. wyzzywyz22 (2108) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2015
Bottle from Chester Beer & Wine. Amber pour crowned with a fading white head. Aroma had notes of peach, sweet malts, hop and toffee. Soft mouthfeel. Flavour wise there was plenty of caramel malt to be found in tandem with some citrus, booze and a fairly hefty hit of fragrant hops. Fruity bitter finish. Fine but falls short of the premier league. kerenmk (4751) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 7, 2015
Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks Tom L. Hazy brown with a yellowish head. Hops, citrus, fruity aroma, mildly bitter, a little oxidized, old taste. Medium body, bitter finish, a little oxidized aftertaste.

22 oz capped bottle pour, shared by Tyler. Pours a hazy reddish copper color with a sweet bready malt aroma. Decently high carb. Super fizzy. Don’t know if I’ve ever had a double ESB before. First time for everything. Flavor is sweet as well. Caramel malt, nutty, bread, a little rye maybe. A little bit of chocolate as well. A ton of flavor going on here, and it makes for a very tasty brew. Another great one from these guys. jackafholmes (1017) - - JAN 18, 2015
Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Nice red colour and a lacy off-white head. Aroma is grassy and citrus, some lemon zest, lime and tyme too, much less malty than the other ASA’s I’ve had. Also, the taste is much less intense than othe ASA’s, its spicy and mildly bitter. Strength is only evident in the body, nice oily medium/full body. I’m a bit conflicted, got to appreciate the skill in brewing a light drinkable 9% beer, but I do miss the potency from other ASA’s like Stone’s Arrogant Bastard. zacgillbanks (5170) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2014
Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Dark copper in colour with rich chocolate, pine, burnt currants and liquorice flavours followed by a malty, cola and orange marmalade fruity finish. Superb! KansaiBeerLvrs (5141) - Kyoto, JAPAN - NOV 20, 2014
Bottle. Left Hand’s Chainsaw Ale is their ramped up version of their award-winning English Special Bitter(ESB) Sawtooth Ale. Sawtooth is somewhat underappreciated in my opinion due to it being a less than trendy style but Chainsaw boosts the ABV from 5.3% to 9% while also supercharging the malts & hops so let’s see how it tastes! A beautifully glowing amber-red pour. Served in a tulip it has a great herbal citrusy bouquet with soft cocoa while in a snifter it was much boozier. The flavor is citrus & pine up front then malty cocoa and a powdery nuttiness. Flavor-wise it is similar to an American style barleywine it’s nice stuff with a bit of heat going down.
