COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2013 & 2010 Gold Medal Winner at the Great American Beer Festival in the Foreign Stout category.

That time of year when the day seems to fade away. Drifting further into the darkness with each passing day. Volume 1 - Foreign Stout - Pours black with licorice, espresso bean, molasses, and black cardamom notes that give way to a feeling of self loathing, burnt opportunities and smoked relationships.

This beer is most definatly not retired. On tap at the dutch pours a jet black with nice foamy head. Full body with nice roast and chocolate. Well balanced with hints of flower. Yum.

Can, best before September 28, 2018. It pours a pitch black with a healthy head of tan foam and good lacing. Roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate nose. Big roasted malt, chocolate, coffee flavours easy to find. Swishing brings out the licorice. Tasty. Bordering on if not full bodied. Perfect carbonation. An impressive Foreign strong Stout.

Can. Dark and stouty. Lots of chocolate, espresso, roasty goodness. Bittersweet but leaning towards the dryer side (if that makes sense). Dangerously drinkable at that ABV.

Can from Merchants. Aroma is dry, roasted malt, burnt, coffee, dark chocolate, some spice, good. Appearance is black, light brown head, poured thick. Taste is heavy roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, spices, molasses, rich and good. Mouthfeel is heavy body, light carbonation but a touch on the spritzy side, mouth-coating roasted coffee dry aftertaste. Overall, this is quite impressive.

Dark, toasted malts, charcoal, burnt toast. Hazy, very dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Medium bitter. More dark chocolate, cacao, dark roasted malts, soft carbonation, full bodied. Nice. Keg at GABF17, Denver.

oobawa (1747) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 27, 2017
Tasty foreign stout, a solid blend of sweet chocolate, roasted malts, anise, and molasses, with java notes on the back end accented by cherry and a firm but forgiving bitterness. Pours a viscous, deep black with a sturdy tan head and moderate lacing. Aroma's chocolate laced with coffee cherries. Good thick texture is silky smooth and lacking any booziness. Makes for very nice pint.

From can. Black with small brown head. Sweet and smokey at the same time makes it rather tasty. Sweet chocolate and licorice. Smoked in the aftertast. Nice.

hauxe (938) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - OCT 15, 2017
Pours black from the bottle. The tan creamy head lingers and sticks to the glass. Aroma is smoke, Christmas spices. Taste is bittersweet with a nice interplay between both sides. Finishes peppery. Body is medium, a bit oily, a touch more carbonation than usual for the style. An interesting and well made brew.

sam_uk93 (49) - West Sussex, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2017
Pours jet black with a tan head. Aroma is dark roast, slight sweetness, shredded wheat. Taste is dark roasted up front leading to a slight dark fruit, slight milky sweetness? Rounding off to a great long lasting dark, roasted, fairly bitter finish. Slight alcohol warmth. Low carbonation, medium bodied.

Solid beer. Works well with the summer to fall temp here in vegas. Not too sweet or heavy.
