COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2013 & 2010 Gold Medal Winner at the Great American Beer Festival in the Foreign Stout category.

That time of year when the day seems to fade away. Drifting further into the darkness with each passing day. Volume 1 - Foreign Stout - Pours black with licorice, espresso bean, molasses, and black cardamom notes that give way to a feeling of self loathing, burnt opportunities and smoked relationships.

Pours black from the bottle. The tan creamy head lingers and sticks to the glass. Aroma is smoke, Christmas spices. Taste is bittersweet with a nice interplay between both sides. Finishes peppery. Body is medium, a bit oily, a touch more carbonation than usual for the style. An interesting and well made brew.

Pours jet black with a tan head. Aroma is dark roast, slight sweetness, shredded wheat. Taste is dark roasted up front leading to a slight dark fruit, slight milky sweetness? Rounding off to a great long lasting dark, roasted, fairly bitter finish. Slight alcohol warmth. Low carbonation, medium bodied.

Solid beer. Works well with the summer to fall temp here in vegas. Not too sweet or heavy.

Can. BBE Nov 2017; Drank July 2017 - Opaque black in colour. Beige head. Very Malty; roasty malts, liquorice, coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, some brown sugar. Bit spicy; peppery. Some balancing hop bitterness. Sweet roast liquorice and coffee malty throughout. Fairly dry. More bitter with burnt notes into the finish. Decent Foreign Stout. (2017-07)

Pretty good. I was expecting a black IPA. Has typical cocoa, coffee and a huge treacle flavour which dominates, some slightly bitter hops and burnt toast notes on the finish.
