COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
That time of year when the light fades away. Brewed for the darkness, Fade to Black speaks in volumes. Welcome to Volume 4, the Beer pours pitch black with an off white head. Citrus (bergamot) and roast dominates the nose. Slight sweet malt gets pushed back by initial citrusy hops followed by powerful Italian Amaro, gentian and hop bitterness. Finishing with a pleasant duality of dry roasted malts and hop bitterness.

Beautiful dark beer. I do t get much from the nose but I'm kind of smell-blind so don't trust my opinion. It's roasty, citrusy, hoppy and bitter. Even and complex. Delightful. Jon Harris

Bottle. Poured clear black color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, chocolate, citrus hop with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a dry slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good complex beer.

Color certainly matches the title. Thin, creamy head floats atop a pitch black body. Very strong pine hops are noticed first. Charred wood comes through next, followed by sweet malt. Bitterness from the hops really linger. More than 60 IBUs almost make you pucker. Chocolate comes through as it warms. The balance is what makes this so good. There is enough going on with the sweetness, bitterness, texture, and char to give it great flavor.

Not a powerful aroma, but hints at citrus. Head is light tan and faded quickly, but laces well. Flavor is more bitter than blacks tend to be, but its a good bitterness.
